I tried both direct into the box and into my sansamp into the box. Both work, but each sounds different. Yes it plugs right into a USB port, no worries there. Macs recognize it automatically under most circumstances. And you can go from any di into the box including straight out of your mark bass. Depending on what you use, you'll have to adjust for input gain using the pad or the input knob, but no matter what you'll be up and going in no time. Just ask if you need help, but it is pretty intuitive.

Sam had some clips not too long ago with a Spector player that recorded some clips with his NS-2, Euro, and a Wal also. I believe it was Eric Eskelson if I am not mistaken (Latinferno) on here and I was very surprised how the Wal sounded. I had always wanted a Wal but after hearing those clips, I didn't want one after that. Let me ping Sam and see if he still has those since I really want to hear them again.

Maybe it's a bit more work to get a good tone out of them...?
I mean listen to Moving Pictures and A Show Of Hands... then any note that Justin Chancellor ever played, that has to account to something.
But still, I have yet to hear a tone like a Spector with a HAZ. I may still be uneducated, but I believe it's a fair statement. :cool:

Moving Pictures was not a Wal. Hold Your Fire or Power Windows would be better examples. Personally, I would say Roll the Bones would be an even better Example.

I have owned 5 Wals....2 were KILLER, 3 were average....it is a very specific sound. there are some great examples of people playing them from the 80's and of course the Rush connection never hurts....I recently pondered on getting another one but aside from the "hype and mystique" factors, I can live without one. They are great don't get me wrong but the basses I already have hold their own and the place that a Wal would occupy is not that large of a space....besides that, they are overpriced and when I had them, they were a lot less....
What other basses are some of you gassing over that I may have already had? I can dispell myths and GAS--ESPECIALLY with some of the now-higher-priced ones....

Ok, guys I think I'm stepping back from the ledge. :help:A bunch on here (Jaymi, John, Eric...) probably saved me at least 5 large. I can be a bit impulsive.:D

I do love the Wal tone. Would I like it all the time......? I don't know.

I was just snapping some pics of my new rig (actually, I've had the Mesa Walkabout head for a while, but I took it out of the Scout 12 and ordered the 15 extensions cab and headcase). While I was at it, I figured it was a good excuse to take a pic with Spectors!

Well.....I'm new to Spector still and hope I offend no one with what follows.

If you have the money and you don't have to move a lot of valued,personally valued instruments then by all means experiment with what you want. However, if you don't like it, in the current economy its hard to move instruments and very few people have a spare 1000 versus five or six times that amount.

I can't see buying a Wal personally for the cost alone.....but if you have loads of cash and no other financial responsibilities.......go for it. I think you could get a few Spector at good used prices for the cost of a Wal. I went on a tone quest......hell I'm still on it......but I always found myself coming back to a certain brand.

Do what out gotta do man. Or don't do it. If I had enough to buy a Wal I think id buy a couple other bases and bank the rest though! LOL

Either way...... good luck with whichever decision you make
