I owned a svt2 non pro(pretty much a racked svt) for a while and have always had the option using one an svt as a back line... I am just not an ampeg guy....if you are? you owe it to yourself to at least own an all tube ampeg once in your life! IMO I've never gotten a tech21 or hybrid ampeg to sound as "big"

Good thing about it is that you could likely get your money back if you buy a used and resell it of you don't like it.
Has anyone tried Mixcraft? I've read some good things. Seems like a bargain.

Mine is a Heritage SVT and it is just killer. I brought it with me to Minnesota (The head, not the 8-10 because my friend that sings in one of my 2 bands up there has my old 8-10 so I used his cab with my head). Seems silly to have such a big head when I spend most of my year (8-9 Months) playing in my living room, and this summer seems like a waste because I had to cancel a bunch of playing dates for the rest of the summer because of my health stuff going on right now, but we played 2 nights and it sounded killer. I am looking forward to getting my NS-2 (most obvious statement ever) because I have a feeling it is going to sound even better than my NS-4 through the head.
I tried a bunch of amps (smaller than my SVT) and I kept returning them or selling them or not buying them, and my wife heard me say "It's okay, but it just doesn't sound like my SVT, nothing does" so she just said why don't you just get a SVT? I had all the reasons, its too big, too heavy, too everything, but that's what is cool about it, it's just over the top rock. It's big and ridiculous and when we started playing the first night it sounded killer and I saw the soundman running towards me. I knew it was way too loud, that's what is awesome about it. I turned down, I use in ears anyway (Off of the DI so I get the sound of the head) but so many complements on the sound and its "The sound" that is in my head.
I really want to try the new all tube amps from Mesa Boogie, but they're not out yet. One is a 120 watt and one is 360 watt, or something like that. And they're made in the USA!

I think technology has certainly caught up to the SVT. There are lots of lighter, more affordable options thats sound great. But like Chrisloe said, its the sound thats in my head. This pic was taken in the late eighties, for some of us older guys Ampeg SVTs have always been there. I have a Genz Benz that I use with a VT pedal when Im feeling lazy. It sounds great, but when its important, I bring the fridge and the CL.

Actually, I'm thinking of downsizing, since I pretty much haven't been able to use it much lately, as I haven't been able to get a project going that plays shows large enough for me to justify bringing it...
we wore some wacky stuff in the eighties! I feel you on the rig. A couple of years ago I almost got rid of my fridges, for the same reason. But, as if turned out, I am using them again. Keep the big rig, ya never know.
Well... I woke up at noon. That's ALWAYS a killer way to start the day!
I had quietly moved my Genz-Benz 6.0 Shuttle into the living room and it's survived more than a week there. Which means it's now part of the room. And as the sun was setting over the Pacific and I was sitting in my living room enjoying the view I brought out the NS-4, plugged up and shared some Spector love with my neighborhood.
I got Bunkaroo's new Alex Webster off on it's journey to him. So that's a great thing. My printer died so I have mail him an envelope on Monday with the authenticity letter and the CD-ROM with photos.
And I paid for the Spector ARC6 in the attached photos. It's an ARC6-RW. Solid one-piece Rosewood neck, set-neck design (22 frets) with custom Seymour Duncan pups, a beautiful black cherry gloss quilt maple top and mahogany body. I'm pretty stoked. I'm going to replace the pigtail bridge with a newer designed Schaller wrap-around model. It's a nice beast with brass saddles.
In all... it was a very, very good day.

Thanks for the heads up on this Steve. I just ordered one, too. I've been using apogee jam with GarageBand for iPad and have wanted to give Protools a try. This seems like a great price to give it a try.
So, my question is, how does this interface work? plug my bass direct into the box and the USB goes into the computer? Can I connect the bass to an amp and the amp into the interface? I'm pretty clueless with this stuff so any direction will be helpful. Thanks!
I tried both direct into the box and into my sansamp into the box. Both work, but each sounds different. Yes it plugs right into a USB port, no worries there. Macs recognize it automatically under most circumstances. And you can go from any di into the box including straight out of your mark bass. Depending on what you use, you'll have to adjust for input gain using the pad or the input knob, but no matter what you'll be up and going in no time. Just ask if you need help, but it is pretty intuitive.
The Pre in your Legend is a Mighty Mite 114.
I have never heard MM 114 in person but I have heard some good things about them.
I have also heard that the MM 114 is no longer available from Mighty Might. Be careful ordering one, you don't want it to remain on B/O and tie up your money with the retailer.
The BTS in the NS-2A should give you a pretty decent growl.
But I think a Tonepump would work perfect in that NS-2A.
P.S.
I am string insane and have gone through lots of brand/Spector combinations and I hated Roto 66's on that NS-2A.
Sometimes certain strings don't match well with a certain bass.
Dunlop Steels or Black Diamond Steels have a bit of a Natural growl IMHO. You may want to try those first before the Pre change.
I need to dig up some old sound clips of that NS-2A vs a EuroLX with a Tonepump. I will send them to you.
