I want one too and have found the Forte 5 to be a nice compromise between a full-out NS-2 (or NS-5 in my case) and a Euro. Once I get the 18v USA pre in there, I'll basically have a satin finished NS5 in my hands for all intents and purposes. But I also was lucky enough to catch it when it was priced incorrectly by GC. They thought it was a Euro 5 and priced it at $1499 which is nowhere near what they normally price used Fortes. It was just luck. Fortunately, my MTD sold so any thoughts i had about selling it off or returning it because of finances are now resolved. Now I'm just waiting on my white Wimbish neck LX4 and my little Spector habit will be satiated. Now I just need a different, preferably non class D head. But you may want to consider a Forte. They sound fantastic and are about 1/2 the cost of a regular USA.
But I do understand and respect your patience. My dream bass is a USA NS-2 or 4 in white or in dark blue quilt (like the one that used to be at BC... I think superdick has it?? every time he puts the picture of it up I little part of me inside starts screaming at me to sell everything and go get one). But unless I come across one used, I don't think I'll ever get around to getting one, but I'm at peace with that.
Oh yeah! My "Sweet Revenge" was worth every penny, but I could be very happy with a Forte 4 with a USA 9-volt circuit.

sumgruuvz said:yeah smadder i was actually thinking about the forte also. id like the ns-2 in peacock blue, but for about 1/2 the price, the forte with a 9v haz in it would get me the tone im looking for. especially with the clip that husky, lima, and 7th have put up for tone samples. but the question is will i be 100% satisfied that i got the spector of my dreams? probably not and therefore i will be on another quest to get there. so it will be a long journey to the top of the mountain. but then i will say "beavis, i have seen the top of the mountain, and it was good!" lol
Wait....I'm researching Mike Inez.....when did he switch from Spector to Warwick???

The Forte was my "gateway USA" for sure.![]()
Well Lee, with the purchase of "Big Earl" I think you passed the gate, went up & over the hill, and then went a few miles beyond that!![]()

delucajohn2000 said:I believe he has always played both all along. In recent shows, he plays his NS-2 and his silverburst Warwick with the Spector being used for the songs that are tuned lower if I am not mistaken.
Is that a Euro bridge? I though the US Bridges were more square....Any Spector Club Member want to grab a fat slice of hand crafted 1994 Spector USA NS-4 history for only $1125 PayPal shipped ConUSA lower 48 in your choice of either a generic, or Yamaha branded hardshell case.
This one is a player... still a beauty with some warts... PM me if you're interested.
Sam ran it past PJ and let me know that it was originally an oil finish and the battery box is aftermarket. This one has a pair of EMG 35DC pickups and a Spector USA 18V (Haz) preamp. This one has a lot of honest character, but it's still a sweety.
