As I've been looking at something to replace my shuttle 6.2 I'm also starting to become convinced that I really need a non class D power section to get the warmth I want. What I really, really miss is my Epifani 502. That was my dream head. I'm thinking of trying to find a decent one used but they still carry their value very well and are still above my current pay grade.

My CRFM is a cut above my Euro LX in both construction and tone, and IMHO, a CRFM equipped with the USA 9-volt circuit will give you 95% of the tone of a USA NS series. For those on a budget or just looking for an incredible value, this is the way to go.

That said, I recommend saving for a USA NS-2 or NS-4. I have been very happy with my Euro LX for the past six years, but in the back of my mind I'd always wondered whether or not I was missing anything by not owning a USA Spector.
The answer was yes.

When I finally got my USA NS-4, I had an ephiphany - this was the exact, no-compromise sound I had been chasing for the past 30 years.
(As a side note, I would recommend to anyone in the market for a USA Spector that they consider both the NS-2 and the NS-4. The NS-2 may be Spector's flagship, but the NS-4 is every bit as versatile, powerful and awesome.)

I no longer wonder if my tone could be any better - it is exactly as I want it now.

Put an end to the wondering & wanting, and buy the last bass you'll ever need - Buy a USA Spector!

that's exactly what i want to do. i want to buy the "one" that i can look at and say that's exactly what i've wanted. no compromises. if it takes a while, then it will take a while, but nontheless, it will be what I have always wanted. then maybe my thirst for all the spector tones from players i love will be satisfied because i have that tone. i was thinking about "what if i were to get a usa spector? would it ever leave the house?" i was reluctant at first thinking about it, but then i said, "you bet your ass i'll play that baby as much as i have the chance to!" so i will save for a while to get my usa spector :) let the saving begin :bassist::bassist:

I want one too and have found the Forte 5 to be a nice compromise between a full-out NS-2 (or NS-5 in my case) and a Euro. Once I get the 18v USA pre in there, I'll basically have a satin finished NS5 in my hands for all intents and purposes. But I also was lucky enough to catch it when it was priced incorrectly by GC. They thought it was a Euro 5 and priced it at $1499 which is nowhere near what they normally price used Fortes. It was just luck. Fortunately, my MTD sold so any thoughts i had about selling it off or returning it because of finances are now resolved. Now I'm just waiting on my white Wimbish neck LX4 and my little Spector habit will be satiated. Now I just need a different, preferably non class D head. But you may want to consider a Forte. They sound fantastic and are about 1/2 the cost of a regular USA.

But I do understand and respect your patience. My dream bass is a USA NS-2 or 4 in white or in dark blue quilt (like the one that used to be at BC... I think superdick has it?? every time he puts the picture of it up I little part of me inside starts screaming at me to sell everything and go get one). But unless I come across one used, I don't think I'll ever get around to getting one, but I'm at peace with that.

Anyone that has an interest, I will be playing The National in Richmond Va a 1500 capacity venue with AIC tribute band Layne's Chains, a STP tribute band called PLUSH and two other local acts. If anyone within a few hours drive is available please come see us. We will play 14 songs mostly from Facelift and Dirt. Tickets are only $10. I promise to rock a Spector! If you can, I'll be trying to represent! If this is inappropriate to post here, please let me know. The date is August 11!

Oh yeah! My "Sweet Revenge" was worth every penny, but I could be very happy with a Forte 4 with a USA 9-volt circuit. :bassist:

Dude, that sounds awesome!! I don't know why it would be inappropriate. Everyone announces gigs here and encourages clubs folks to show up. Break a leg dude, and definitely use that newly upgraded Bop! I can't wait to hear how much of a change the 40DCs and the BQC make for that bass. It's gonna be a whole new instrument, and that gig sounds like the perfect proving ground for it. Good luck Jamie! But one thing: you didn't tell us the date of the gig(s)

I'm looking for suggestions on replacement tuners for a ReBop4. Preferably, the lightweight style. The stock ones remind of the ones on the Spector Q4 Pro bass (which I've previously owned). They are okay, but I like the Schallers on my Euro5 LX better because of the smoother control.

I had some Hipshot Ultralites on a bass I sold last month that were nice.
