Zoom, what did you think of your JAR with the US 9v in it? I have a white one and have EMG X-series J's and the smadder set up of the BTC system and the EXB circuit. It's a perfect fit for this bass (as that combo works well on every Jazz-type configuration I've ever tried) but I'm curious how the 9v sounded in the JAR.

It's a great pre and the JAR was jazzy yet had that Spector growl/sound to it as well. I could get all those tasty jazz sounds and more. Only real downside to putting a US 9v in a JAR is it appears that the previous owner who did the mod had to enlarge the control cavity to make it fit. They did a good job but the bottom edge of the rout where it comes to a point extends beyond the cover by about 1/4".

The JAR is a great bass but I prefer a different neck shape.

Nah I pulled the listing. I'll just keep her. It really is a fantastic instrument. I usually play passive instruments which is why I think I'm having a hard time bonding with it. I can't stop fiddling with it! I'm here to stay.I want a Rebop too I think.

NB1470 would be a 2002 Euro 4 model.
It would have solid maple wings.
the bridge would be zinc brass alloy.

IMHO, you cant go wrong by putting a 9V USA Circuit in it.

I doubt many people would be able to pick out the differences of the tone between a solid maple Euro with a 9V USA Circuit and a Kramer era NS-2

But at the same time, a Kramer era NS-2. has that "MoJo"

I've been seriously considering the US 9v for my CRFM. All this talk has motivated me to do it. Are they readily available at the Spector site? What would be the expected price to pay a tech for the install?

I'm in the process of doing this now. I ordered mine this week from PJ. He said they are hoping to get them in stock this month. They have a few NS-2's that need them and some customer orders as well to fill. I would anticipate they will be in stock this month. Price for tech to install...not sure. Maybe $50 I would guess...

Here we go:

The second "Amazon bass" that I'm keeping for now (the other being the white JA-R). This is taking the place of the Forte 5 which is getting traded even-Steven next month for a Forte 4. Why do you ask? Well, because this Euro 5 LX in satin black matte with a quilt maple top, EMG 40DC pickups and an EMG BQC system preamp running at 9v weighs only 9.1 pounds instead of 11.2 and has a perfect D neck profile that's almost exactly like the Alex Webster profile rather than the C profile of the Forte 5 which I just can't handle.

It sounds awesome, has one of those quilt tops that looks different from every angle, which is really cool. I realize a flamed top would actually be more of a faux Forte, but we take what we can get when we're on the barter system boys and girls, we take what we can get. A $1,998 bass for much less than its equivalent in work that I did is a perfect thing. And so is the tone of this bass. Buttery and the BQC I think may officially be taking the place of the BTC/EXB smadder set up preamp combo. Once you get used to dialing the mids, you can get a wide range of sweet spots, from a close emulation of the USA Spector circuits, to the BTC/EXB smadder set up, to just about anything you want. I can't sing the praises of EMG enough. They have great game and sound better in Spectors than anywhere else.

Crap! that's right! I remember when i put in a lithium battery I noticed that the cavity is not carved for the US 9v circuit the way other Euros are. Totally slipped my mind. Oh well, I'm happy with it as it is and I'm pretty sure that when/if I sell it the next owner will be too. It's got tone for days...

I spoke with JoAnn who works in the Woodstock shop about this last month.
The 9V USA circuits are almost always on a 30 day back order.
They get shipments monthly and they fill the back orders regularly.
Her suggestion was to get the order in and then you are on the list to get one.

As bassgiant mentioned, they use these to for the current NS-2's in production as well as separate customer orders.

The amazing thing about these circuits,
the same "one guy" at Haz Labs
makes them now as did throughout the years.

Seventhframe ordered one not too long ago and he it took about 3 weeks for him to receive it.

Trust me, it is worth the wait and money. You will love it.

The install cost I would also guess is around $50-$60.
