I know this has come up before but is anyone running the HAZ in a Forte? Thoughts? I'm just curious what the differences are between that and the stock OBP pre.
I believe Sam, Omer and Lee have all converted their Forte's....and they LOVE them!!!! ...They are a bad influence on my S.A.S.
When I got my Forte I loved the OBP2 tone in it.
It had what I guess can be described as
a "clean wood like growl"
But my S.A.S. for the Spector 9Volt USA circuit (Haz) wouldn't get out of my system. (I blame Patrick
)So I decided to add the Spector 9Volt USA circuit (Haz) and I fell in love even more.
"True story", which I have mentioned before to some of you, when I finished installing it and I played the first few notes, I started to make "moaning sounds" from the excitement of how great it sounded. My wife and daughter seriously thought I was have a some type of cardiac episode and came running up to see if I was ok.
Here is a sound comparison. Both of these clips where recorded with DR Hi Beams which are the strings I had on it the day I swapped the preamp.

The Euro 4LX 435 has arrived. I'll be bringing it to my tech tomorrow to set up down to "C" with a set of Blue Steels in 50-110. I'm hoping that gauge will be okay since this bass is the 35" scale.
That's pretty funny, actually. I have a hard time imagining my Forte getting any better but I trust your opinions implicitly. Will have to look into that more seriously.

I haven't heard the euro blue with haz yet. I am going to get it tomorrow or thursday and I will let you know. But the necks and playability are similar.
You are wrong my friend. The euro also has solid maple wings also....hehe
....will be the same except the US has a heavier brass bridge.
I will let you know Sam...The Euro is going head to head with the 2 Kramers!!!...Blood bath!!!...

Brad, ask Lima, I was just like you about my Forte. I denied that bass heart surgery for months, well maybe weeks...ok it was days but trust us, the moment you strike that first note you will completely get it. Yes Euro's sound awesome. Yes the smadder setup is pretty sweet. Yes the AW bass howls. Yes the 2A's are incredible. But nothing, and I mean nothing sounds like an NS 2. Don't deny your Forte it's true heart, the heart that was meant to be in it.
These recordings Sam does are incredible but they cannot capture what that pre does live.....the nuances, the grit, the growl. You'll never hear the full picture (can you hear a picture?) until your finger hits the string. My 2.
