And I mean no disrespect for Sam and his recordings. I want to make sure everyone understands that. He and I have had numerous discussions about this (recording vs. live) and are on the same page. Long lives Sam's ditty in G! Has anyone ever heard/seen John's version? :)

These recordings Sam does are incredible but they cannot capture what that pre does live.....the nuances, the grit, the growl. You'll never hear the full picture (can you hear a picture?) until your finger hits the string. My 2.

No offense taken at all, I understand exactly.

Here is what Lee is saying; as good as 9Volt USA Circuit may sound on a recording. When you are actually playing a bass that has a Haz in it, it just blows your ears and your mind in person.
(sorry I had to use HAZ for that sentence :hiding:)

As far as John's version, only you and I have seen that.

John did a spoof version of himself playing my usual riff on a video to bust my b#**s

Speaking of John, he just texted me this photo about 1/2 hour ago, he was just about to see Alex take the stage.

Congrats, looking good :bassist:

If the Blue Steels end up being a bit loose for drop C, try Lo-Riders, Sadowsky Steels or Dunlop Steels.

(I always found Blue Steels to be lower tension then other strings)

Just finished installing the TP in my NS2A. Definate improvement in tone over the EMG BTS to my ears. It came out of an Euro 4LX with all the knobs already wired up. Thanks again smadder. I won't have much time to play with it until this weekend, but I can't wait. It's set-up with volume for each pick-up instead of volume/blend like my old pre. I have the TP trim set to around 60%. How do you TP guys set your tone/pick-up controls for the best grunt/grind? This will have to be my pre until I can afford an US 9V.

I wish my cell phone didn't have such an awful camera. I took a bunch of pictures of Alex and I hope I got some good ones but I will look through them tomorrow.

He is such a monster player, it's not even funny. Of course, now I want an Alex Webster signature bass but since I am broke, I will settle for my blue Euro 5LX that has the BQC and EMG DC's. I would love to see how different the neck is on the signature bass though.

Dan Briggs was amazing to watch also. Man, the dude can play also.

both pickups 100%. I run the treble 80-100% and bass 10-30%. I get a really aggressive tone it cuts ALOT. the amp effects it too... I run GK amps. Do you have EMGs in that NS2A?

PS: It's for sale :( if it sells... I'll be getting a nice replacement :)

I've actually got a set of Lo-Riders in the same gauge, I'll use those instead. I have a set of DDT 115's, but was trying to avoid such a heavy gauge if possible.

Hey...what can I say...;) I'm a Bass ars man! Lol You're quite right...quite plain indeed. Hmmm, so non-eventful and disappointing :( I guess that's what you get with the Euros vs. USA... :p :D :hiding:

"True story", which I have mentioned before to some of you, when I finished installing it and I played the first few notes, I started to make "moaning sounds" from the excitement of how great it sounded. My wife and daughter seriously thought I was have a some type of cardiac episode and came running up to see if I was ok. :o :bassist:

Here is a sound comparison. Both of these clips where recorded with DR Hi Beams which are the strings I had on it the day I swapped the preamp.

True, my guitarist has even better ears than me and he says the Kramers with the Us 9 (haz) he can hear the corners of the notes (kind of like 3-dimensions) being played. Yes the tone-pump basses do sound very good but the Us 9 (haz) has that little extra....Thus I am getting a Us 9 (haz) on my Euro, I know it wont exactly be the same but the levels on the gain stage of amp won't need to be adjusted live. Thus not killing the sound guy. :bassist::bassist::bassist:

Thanks, the top is quite nice. I'm already tempted to do a refin of some sort like a trans blue, red or 2T sunburst. I think I'll leave it for now though (except to switch to a single vol + balance pot).
