I love statements like that. Brand new the RETAIL price of this bass was $549.00 Most dealers probably sold them in the $399 range.

Did you notice how rough the edges of the body are? Looks like someone sawed it out with a hand rip saw! :eek: The lower horn looks like it has wood filler in the bottom of the curve? Very bad refinish! Something looks off where the neck bolts onto the body...to tell you the truth the only thing that looks Spector is the double S logo on front of the headstock. And the performer serial number. :ninja:
On the positive...real nice $400.00 bass case! :D

hehe... I did send him a message saying he could confirm with Spector IF he wanted info on the bass.

I take that rating with a grain of salt... but given the simple, no questions asked return policy at Guitar Center, I'll have 30 days to decide of it's a keeper :bassist:

The NS-4CR is tracking to arrive on Friday this week so I should have some pics to post by Sunday.

I've got something from Jaymi tracking to arrive Thursday.

l've got another bass tracking to arrive on Thursday as well.

I am in the process of installing an EMG BQC into my NS-JH5 and when I removed the existing OBP-1, I realized that the existing holes for the pots were not wide enough for the 2 stacked pots for the BQC.

Sam and I ran into this issue before with my blue Euro 5LX when he installed the BQC in that but I used a Dremel to widen the holes that time and I really didn't like doing that. I did some research online and several people were suggesting to use a tapered reamer to widen the holes. I ran over to my local Ace Hardware and picked one up for $20 (you can find it much cheaper online) and tried it out immediately when I got home. WOW! This is the way to go! It took me probably 2 minutes per hole to widen them and I couldn't believe how easy it was. The holes are perfect too so if anyone is looking to install either a BQC or even a 9V USA Circuit and the pot holes are not wide enough, this is definitely the way to go. Here is what it looks like:

It's just like buying anything, you gotta hold out for numerous detailed pics and ask questions of the seller (if they don't respond to your questions,or sound wayyyy to excited or eager but don't give you all the info you asked for, it is a good sign that you should walk away), I've got some really amazing deals out there, you just have to know who to avoid, and how to spot someone who doesn;t know what they are talking about or are omitting certain areas of the instrument in the pics.

The one problem I had I bought a Japanese lawsuit copy of the Explorer bass there were some decent pics but some main areas of normal damage were not shown in the pics, so when I got it it was pretty thrashed but it sounded great so I stuck with it. Oddly comfortable too with the strap button on the neck plate.

All my Spectors aside from teh NS-2A Jaymi sold me have come from ebay.

Yep! I bought my ReBop 5DLX and NS-95 SSD off eBay. Both represented correctly. Only one bad deal...bought a brand new in the shipping box unopened Euro-5XL for $900+ and never received it. But eBay reimbursed me after 2-3 weeks. I was quite disappointed of course.

I wasn't overly thrilled with the sound from my new (to me) Euro 4LX. It just was either too boomy or too bright almost nothing inbetween and entirely too loud even on the lowest of volume settings. Because it was equipped with the non-trimpot tonepump I assumed it just needed a preamp upgrade. I was all ready to pull the trigger on a 9volt USA preamp then heard about an 18volt trimpot tonepump option that I thought might work.
While thinking it over I decided spend a little more time with the Euro and slap a new set of strings on it.
Off went the Cobalts, very articulate strings but too much finger grip and noise and the D string kept hanging in the nut while tuning. On went some Elixer Nano's and fine tuning the set up and action.
Then I noticed it. Someone had plugged my instrument cable into the passive jack on my GK MB210 practice amp. Moved it to the active jack and bingo, solved the boomy problem. The nano strings sound and feel fantastic, first time I've used them so we'll see how they hold up, but liking them much better than the cobalts so far, really nice on slides, little to no finger noise yet just a articulate and agressive as the cobalts if you dig in.
I'll give it another week to see if I need the 18volt tonepump upgrade or the 9volt USA upgrade, but for now all is well in this Spector household.

Interesting...you're the 2nd person here that are using those strings. Not many use them. I have them on my acoustic 6 string. Nice tones!
