I bought a bass recently and the seller forgot to mention one thing when I asked if there was any issues whatsoever. I'll never forget to ask going forward: "Has the bass been in a smoke free environment?"

I received the bass, opened the case, and almost passed out from the smell. Seriously hardcore stench. I contacted the seller and he said that's how he got it and it didn't bother him. I spent a ton of time, TLC, and money getting rid of the smell, which was unbelievably hard to remove. But I did after a few months. The case is worthless - can't get rid of the smell in it. The seller gave me back some money, but it was a major pain to deal with.

So lesson learned, smoke free means a lot to those who don't smoke. Not being a snob, just prefer not to purposely subject myself to it.

That really sucks! Usually Fabreeze will eliminate any and all orders. If not, take it to a cleaner that cleans houses after a fire. They have some awesome odor neutralizer. I can't stand old stale cig. smoke smell either, yuk!

So, the new bridge for the Coda says it's been delivered. I'm gonna check my box on the way out to work and see.

Also, I ordered two sets of strings to try on the Coda 5: Pressure wounds and Stainless.

I love the color and it looks like a nicely figured piece of maple.

I love that color, my favorite! I believe it's a NS-2 though, has PJs not soap bars, and USA 9V circuit. It's only 7 hours or 441 miles from me. A tank of gas each way. Hmm...now if only I had the $$$!

I think when Stuart started SSD he could not use the NS-2 name so he named it the NS4. The name was kept when he got the rights to his company/name back and he called the PJ model NS2 and the Soap model NS4.

As always, I could be wrong.

If he/she gets that money for that then I will be selling my Kramers for $4000....Kramer,Woodstock,Brooklyn...the best eras...SSD the worst....not my opinion was told by a few people that know more about Spectors than I do. He will be lucky to get $2k

Those some pretty negative words about Stuart Spectors hand built basses. Share with us why they are not as good as the others please.

Actually, Smith strings. GHS makes them. I like GHS a lot, I wish they offered a taper wound version of their pressure wound B string.

I sold a SSD NS4 (Czech model) that I regret to this day. That bass sounded as good as my US NS4, and better than all others I've owned. I'd kill to have it back.

I've always heard the SSD stuff was great. Jaymi seems to think his SSD NS4 is no slouch, I think.

I have had at least one of each era and so far, I prefer the SSD to the Kramers based on the beck profile...

My concern is that Spectors have a naturally aggressive sound (which I dig ). I'm fearful that the single MM pickup may be too aggressive, I was hoping for some of those great Spector lows as well.

From what I understand the ReBopMM 4 string will be on display at Bass Player Live on Oct 20th-21st.

I also hear there is a plan to have sound clips & a video review released that weekend. So we should be getting an answer soon on how it sounds.
