I stripped the strings off my Euro to soak in denatured alcohol. Also cleaned it up a bit.
Set up the action on my NS 2 super low like my Forte. Let's see, got some Jim Beam at the ABC store.....Took a nap.....that's about it.
I still dont get the denatured alcohol thing Lee. Wanna know something funny? My DR yellow Neons have at least 24 three hour shows on them, maybe 40 extra hours and some noodling time and are still on my bass and still perform pretty well, they might not be as snappy but they work. For a while I was getting my particular name brand strings for $8 a set.........so I would just change sets...........oh well.........to each their own right? JIm Beam? Must be mixing cuz sipping would be Makers....lol![]()

Perfect for when Jersey Shore or one of the many Gordon Ramsey shows is on.Yeah I know you don't get the denatured thing. Believe me I don't do it just for something to do.
24 three hour shows and 40 hours of noodling and you still like the tone? Icebox will be happy to know he has another flatwound brother in arms.![]()

brotherbassj said:I also dont see any sense in buying used strings, never understood that phenom. either...but again to each their own. I am starting to like stainless steel strings so..........give me an ounce of credit Lee....LOL
I want to try the Dean Markley Helix strings on the Spector. I read up on them and they sound interesting........or I could go Circle K after playing Mike's......decisions.........decisions.............
Hey guys/gals! Sorry if I'm derailing here but I really need your voices of experiences. I'm looking at buying 1-2 210 Bass cabs used. I cruzed the TB classifieds and GC last night. Found some very nice low prices. These are the manufactors that I've looked at, SWR Workingmans 210T, Crate BE215,BXE210H, GK backline 210BLXll, Behringer Ultrabass BA210, Trace Elliot 1028H 210, Carvin V210 400W, BR210, BR210 Red,RL210T, Ampeg SVT 210AV. Also a couple heads, SWR SM500, Ampeg SVT-3Pro.
Sorry about this long list, but I don't have any where within 2-3 hrs. that would have an assortment of rigs on a showroom floor.
Your personal experience will serve me well in making a final determination.
Thank you!
I have a whole night planned for my Forte 5 and it includes cracking a new bottle of Maker's Mark.
Tonight my Forte 5 gets Brent's royal spa treatment..... Howard Feed-N-Wax on the fretboard, a full body massage/clean with Gibson Instrument cleaner, new strings and a setup (not that it needs it thanks to J.Kernodle's set up while he owned it), break in the strings a bit, tune 'er up and learn a few new songs I have been putting off.
I do this once every couple of months and my wife hates it! It is a good 2-3 hours buggering around with a bass or two.Perfect for when Jersey Shore or one of the many Gordon Ramsey shows is on.
P.S. New strings are part of the ritual. I usually wait until I have a dozen used sets and sell them..... I only grab a used string if I break one... and that is rare.
