She says in the video it is a 5 string without the G?
So the average consumer would think , Order this and get a 125-130 B a 105ish E and a etc etc. If this is not what happens and you end up with the string gauges on the package "Niki's Gear" at the point in the video I referenced above, then the video is very misleading IMHO. Won't clutter this club thread any more thanks

. I'll share a couple of things with my west brothers who are still awake, cause it's not so late out there. Hallelujah! The neck ain't fat! I have read from some owners that they found the Coda necks to be a bit chunky. I don't know about theirs, this one feels like love. The tone or tones are delicious, the Aguilar OBP-2 kills in this context.

Beautiful! Love the color, can't tell you how many times I drooled over one just like that at Bass Central as I surfed the net looking for the perfect jazz PU Spector. I can't wait to see your review, very interested in how the aggie PUs sound vs the traditional EMG PU approach Spector takes on most of it's basses. I'd bet the aggie PUs combined with the aggie OBP-2 preamp sound fantastic.

Hey all. I had posted a preamp question about an NS2005 I picked up last week. I'm basically not satisfied with the EMG setup it has, though that's mostly because the electronics weren't maintained, and I was just looking for some feedback about changing the electronics. Any suggestions? Oh, and here's the original feed:

Steve here is what the price sheet says:
SPECIAL ORDER OPTIONS
• 35" extended scale: all Four String Models with standard tuning No Charge
• Lined or Unlined fretless No Charge
• Black Hardware (Spector aluminum bridge, Schaller tuners and straplocks) $100.00
• Non Standard Finish Color $200.00
• Custom tuning / special set up. Includes BEAD Low Tuning .065 -.130 $150.00
So if it came with the BEAD it should fit up to a .130 string. But Spector Strings are tapers so that should be kept in mind
As far as the string breaking, it happens. I have no doubt that that bass was in pristine condition when you sold it.

Sorry you feel it is misleading.
It's simply a review of the 35" scale Euro4LX-TW with the OPTIONAL B,E,A,D tuning.
If you visit the spec page for the Euro4LX-TW (right under the text you quoted), it says in two different places that the 35" and B,E,A,D tuning is an option...
And perhaps that needs to be more clear. The STOCK factory tuning for ALL 4 string Spector basses is standard tuning (E,A,D,G). The 35" scale option 4-string Euro4LX and Euro4LX-TW will come with E,A,D,G unless you ask for the B,E,A,D option, which had you purchased this from a dealer, the dealer would have discussed with you.
The bad thing is that regardless of the deal you got and even if it was still in its original packaging, your bass has no warranty because you are not the original owner. Smadder is. And once he resold the bass to you; the warranty is not transferrable. And Smadder is not an authorized Spector dealer. So he can't extend a warranty to you.
Steve is a great guy, don't get me wrong, but regardless if you felt the Nicki video was "misleading" and you're upset that your bass didn't come B,E,A,D when you thought it should... your bass is used, sold between two private parties. So any assistance you might have gotten through an Authorized Spector dealer, just doesn't exist with your new bass.
I sincerely appreciate the feedback on this. I see so much of this information on the models and their options, etc... that things that are probably not so clear to the average consumer (as you put it) are things I just automatically know.
So I'll work on changing that and making that more clear.

I agree that it's not clear that just because you get one option, say the 35" scale, you get both. You don't. You have to specify both options.
Really the whole reason for the 4-string 35" scale is for drop tuning.
I owned one of the first ones to be made and Nicki played it at Bass Player Live! 3 years ago and it's what prompted her to want one. And it's not her fault that she didn't point out in the video that the B,E,A,D tuning was an option. That's my fault. I don't expect her to know options and specs, etc...
I will change the wording to make this more clear.

Now... If you say it came to you B,E,A,D it's completely possible. Some dealers will pre-order special options like B,E,A,D, etc... to have in stock since they are in higher demand.
Bass Central is a good example of that. They stock special-order gloss white Euro4LX models. And he's ordered Euro4LX and Euro4LX-TW 35" scale models with the optional B,E,A,D tuning to keep in stock. So it's completely possible that you got a special-option low tuned 35" scale Euro4LX from Amazon.
If you did you got lucky. Because it really is a special order option.
I'd recommend switching the pickups out to active EMG DCs and go with the Aguilar OBP-2 but wire it at 18v. And you'll LOVE the tone of that bass.
With the setup above it'll sound like a USA Spector NS-4 with the 18v USA Spector circuit.
Quitin Berry's new signature Spector the NS-4Q has the OBP-2 at 18v and EMG DCs and when I did the old A-B with my Water Cured Redwood NS-4 the tone was so close it was really hard to tell them apart.
The OBP-2 is easy to setup with 4-knobs. The Spector Forte comes with the OBP-2 (at 9v and not 18).
So it's a 4-knob, Spector compatible circuit.

I'm really sorry if I caused anyone frustration about it and ill certainly follow up with Pat as well. But if anyone in the club strings any of their 4 string Spectors BEAD (35" scale or not) and can help him, please, please get in touch with him.

Hi guys! I'm finally able to let you all know, I'm a member of the Spector family! And prooooud of it! There shall be some pics taken soon for the site (so I am told) and this here is the (first) bass I ordered from the Czech factory.
It's a Euro 5lx with black matte stain finish, no inlays and the normal electronics. I want to change the elecs to a blend knob and one volume though, but I am not good at wiring so it'll have to wait.
Here it is!
Just look at the finish! Beautifil!
It plays soooooo great out of the box, better than my ReBop for sure and it has sustain like... like... like nothing I have ever heard before. It's a dream, let me tell you.
Can't wait to get this thing on stage!

You obviously have TW pickups in that which means both your current volume knobs are push/pull for the single coil/double coil functions.
