Part of my concern with gigging nice basses is I've had a bass knocked over by a soundman before so, it's like PTSD for bass.![]()
I don't even take my bass out now until it's ready to tune and soundcheck, and then back in the case or gig bag it goes until we're ready to play. Same thing between sets. It also never leaves my sight. Some places want you to leave your bass in some area, but it stays on my shoulder or within reach. I am the Fox Mulder of gigging - TRUST NO ONE.
I WANT TO BELIEVE! I leave my bass out, on stage, BUT it's in my stand with a neck lock to prevent falling. It's set to the side of my rig & the back end of the stand is wedged under my cab, too. I also unplug the cable, so it can't be tripped on & pull it down.
