I've read through that, but there's nothing describing what I'm talking about. I get the different body styles that are available, but I'm referring to the NS body shape used on the current USA, CR and KR basses. There seems to be discrepancies in the shape , not including the carving contour differences between them to minimize costs.

I know all the US basses are done by hand. I believe each horn is done completely by hand so there may be some differences in the horn shape of consecutive basses. The same with the overall shape of the body. From the few videos I've seen they use a machine to get the general shape of each bass, but all the major shaping work is done by hand!

I'm pretty sure the Euro's a more uniform...maybe because there is a different build process...but don't quote me on that! :D

That explains the US vs others.
As an example of what I'm looking at, there's a Euro5LX on GC's site (black with gold HW) and a Legend Customer MK5. The cut-aways and lower body shape seem very different in dimension.

it talks about it in the older models as to what the changes are in a bit more depth. the US and euros are the same shape but different woods now ( NT models / NS body style). All the Bolt on basses are slightly different ( besides the rebop i believe). flatter, less curve on the front and back. The legends are different as well, in the upper horn mostly and a little flatter as well ( same as the old ns2000's). I'm sure cost has some to do with it , but more i think with just having them be different or for ergonomic purposes. Spector doesn't do things just to cut costs, generally speaking, thats just not how they roll.
The old NS2A's were basically identical to the US basses in shape but had different hardware and electronics. JPS wrote a good post long ago on the differences between shapes, perhaps he'll chime in and lay some knowledge on us. :bassist:

Yes they are different.

The MK5
"All of our Professional Series Legend™ Basses feature the NS-Bass™ Shape and have a slight body contour, but are not fully carved like the original NS-Body Basses™"
also has the 4+1 old style headstock

the euro 5lx
"All of our Europe Series™ Basses feature the fully-carved Original NS-Bass™ Design."
and new 5 string headstock.

Thanks for the responses. If I can swing it, I'm definitely going for the Euro5LX. I've played an MK5, but it doesn't even hold a flame to my ReBop5.
Now, an MK5-USA, I would sleep with Fat Bastard for!

Totally agree, I would be wayyyyy too paranoid to gig a US Spector, especially at the "venues" friends and I gig around here. That's why I typically buy used "player" basses, all my Spectors are beauties but there are dings and scratches here and there so I don't feel too bad about playin them out!

The guy I bought my first Spector from called it "pre-disastered". Like a car, that first ding is always the worst. :D
