Do you guys notice when we buy and sell Spectors, we never ask how much they weigh. I guess we have gotten used to them, at least the neck troughs, being on the heavy side. They do have great balance so it's not usually a problem.

A pound or two should not be an issue....honestly....but Ho, you have met me. I could play a 40 pound bass no problem! Lol
True that! BrotherBassJ the gentle giant! I got into the light bass craze for a hot minute, then realized weight is not a big deal with a good quality strap. Totally agree with you.
On the topic of the wight of basses... I fell in Love with a Rebop yesterday, I just wish it had a bit more wood on it, as it's tending towards the lighter side of basses.
Spectorians come hither and help thee...Ive got an ns20004 that i absolutely love, hardwares been upgraded to gold, pickups are DC's (have also tried a pj set) and mixing the two sets and so forth, when Im holding the bass i feel like ive got a usa in my hands, it feels that good, im just not 100% into the sound, it came with a MM114 preamp and i think that may be what i dont totally care for. My favorite bass sounds typically come from a jazz bass, i love my american standard fender, but i also love some of the agressiveness you guys get from your ns-2's. Whats my best option with my ns20004? Do i need to go with an Aguilar pre 9 or 18 volts or do I need the 18 volt haz? I want a fat thumpy slap sound, burby fingerstyle sound that can be tweeked to get a little overdriven when i dig in.Help me out, thx.
I don't have a lot of hands on experience with many pre's, but based on your discription and what I've read, it sounds like an aggie pre might work well.
I'd also reccomend a tone pump- I was messing around with it in my euro and I could get some nice, warmer sounds by backing off te treble and lightly boosting the bass. This was with fairly dead strings on it though. Someone with more pre experience than I can probably chime in.

I've never noticed a huge variance in weight with the Euros, Legends & Rebops I've played. The Rebops have been the lightest, but I've never seen more than 1-2lbs difference in weights. I think my ReBop clocks in at just over 8lbs, being about 1/2 lb heavier than my Fender P-5.
Maybe it's the maple wings used in the USA models that make them so heavy? Do they usually weigh more than Alder/Ash?

Those old Yammies were cool bikes. I love the naked bikes. I was always nice toasty on my GS. It had heated grips but I also had a heated jacket liner and heated gloves from Gerbings. The cagers thought I was nuts for sure but even in single digit temps I made the commute.
You know, I'll probably use my NS-5XL live at some point just because I got it used and it was a partial trade so I don't think I'd feel as anxious as bringing out a brand new special ordered NS-6XL for instance.
Honestly though, the Webster really fits the band I'm in right now so I'm happy to gig that. If I get into a different band with a different sound the NS-5XL might come out.
