Evil - hang in there and keep on looking. I picked up this one about 6 months ago for around $1000 USD and it weighs about 9 pounds...
Just keep your eyes open, there are plenty of great deals out there. Also a lot of great people in this club that will help locate a specific Spector if you let them know exactly what you're looking for.

I like the sound, but it's definitely not a TonePump.
I opened the cavity up & this is what it looks like. The Treble & Bass pots are also notched for the centre points! Any ideas as to what it is??

It is an older EMG BT (or also referred to as BTS) circuit.
Using the Godfather's wiring diagram, I just rewired my Forte-4X with the EMGdcs/Aguilar OBP-2 pre to 18volts. I can't say I notice any difference in volume or much difference in tone ... perhaps a bit more mid/low grit coming through, but it's hard to say for sure because it's not like flipping a switch to hear A vs B immediately. I only have an Acoustic B200 combo to play it through at the moment. I'll get to experiment a bit more tomorrow midday when my apartment neighbors aren't trying to relax in peace & quiet
Can anybody who's made the addition before tell me what their experience in sound was?
I have done the 18V mod using a Tonepump and BTS Circuit but never with an Aguilar OBP-2.
The 18V mod gives you more headroom. With the Tonepump it sort of cleared up the grittiness in the EMGs but IMHO the change is very subtle. I have heard the difference through recordings but there is no way I would be able to tell the difference if it wasn't being A/B'd next to each other.

Yes, subtle indeed. I'll tinker around a little more tomorrow with some settings.
I'm already concerned about the neighbors 'enjoyment' of my extra headroom, so might end up switching back lol

Thanks, I really like how it looks and plays but I probably will drop either an OBP-2 or 9volt preamp in it, I'm just not very fond of the non-trim tonepump it has.
Funny thing about the wood pattern on this bass it that it creeps out my daughter, when you look closely you see faces everywhere in it...

That tends to be a personal preference. Have you used the Tonepump before or will it be the first time hearing it when you install it in your Rebop?
I have the Trim Tonepump in my older Rebop 5 with EMG DC's and really do like the tone a lot. I am not a huge fan of the treble blast but as long as you control it, it won't get too bright.
I always tend to go back to Dan Briggs with his NS-2005. This thing is stock and to sound like this just amazes me:

My Rebop currently has a non-trim. I like it, but it's too hot & touchy. If there was some way to just mod a trim pot into the existing wiring harness, I'd do that. It's also getting a 40P5 & 40J, and an 18V mod next month.
The NS-2000/5 almost reminds me of an ESP, instead of a spector, with that pre-amp. It sounds like my ReBop with the tone rolled off, but definitely not when I start playing with the EQ.
My Rebop 5 was the same way. It had a non trim tonepump in it which wasn't bad but was way too hot so I swapped it out with a trim version and also did the 18v mod as well. I do like it much better this way but keep the treble fairly low in it since it starts to get very bright real quick. I also have that bass tuned down one and a half steps as well so it really gets a nasty sound to it and I mean that in a good way
OK, so after a hellish day taking the ferry to vancouver, getting my bass, being told I'm too late for the return ferry, waiting 2 hours with a bored 2 year old for the next ferry, and finally getting home around 5pm...I plugged in my new-to-me NS20005!

If its a BTS circuit. I would leave it. That's a good preamp , and the tonepump is a like it or hate it type of deal. I won't trash it, but I've had very little luck with it. Although Limaguy's, 18V trimpot tonepump does sound pretty good to me.

I have ripped out the BT in 2 basses and put the TonePump in. But I prefer the TonePump (in a spector) over just about everything (I say just about, because I haven't tried everything)

I've checked their 4x6 (Markbass NewYork 604) also and I was blown by its power. Small rig of doom. It's very punchy and articulate. I had a chance to check every their amp and cab because dealer shop is near the place I live and my friend works there. I was hesitating for quite long chosing between 2x10 and 4x6, and to be honest I'm still not sure if I made a right choice...If you get 4x6 you'll like it for sure.

They're really nice.
I've had the two prototypes here in my office for the past month (they arrived with the Blue Dream).
They're identical to the USA Coda's in basic shape, neck profile, scale length... They have EMG HZ J-pups and the TonePump Jr. Circuit. They have the Legend bridge and tuning machines.
So it's like a Legend and a Coda had a love-child... PJ Rubal's words...
I think they're really cool and the tops on them are really, really nice.
Available as either a 34" scale 4-string or 5-string, in Black Cherry Gloss, Transparent Black Gloss or Gloss Natural Stain.

Nice Omer! What frequency do you have totally dropped out on your Ampeg EQ?
