SPECTOR® Club - Part 52

thank you for your prayers and kind words. i was diagnosed last feb. i do have strong faith and i KNOW i will win!:smug: i completely agree with the comments about spector = healing from some members. i walked into that bass shop in chicago after a long day of hurry up and wait just to find out everything is being pushed back due to my normal dr dropping the ball:confused::rollno:... and i started to feel my hands sweat when i saw the first spector. (i have only a performer and i do appreciate it for what it is, after all it is still a Spector!) it was a buckeye euro 5lx. my hands are usually very cold as a side effect to treatments/ meds. i got home(a 3 hr drive) and walked into the house and my girlfriend grabbed my hand and couldnt believe how warm my hands were. being me i went to make sure i wasnt running a high fever. i was a cool 98.3... im convinced it was the 4 spectors i held and played somehow helped the circulation in my hands... they are still warm today. anyway, thanks again. :bassist: and sorry for the ramble...

Right on, man. Stay positive and kick its miserable C ass.

I've been to that Chicago Music Exchange and Bass Club Chicago and they both have some great basses. Which one were you at? If it's Bass Club, I think I've played the buckeye you are talking about --- its a nice one!!! They had it on a rack as I walked in the door. First bass I saw - for real! Nice way to greet the new customers. :bassist:

Figured id bump this as I didn't see if anyone responded, though I know there aren't a lot of fretless 5ers in the club. I'm just on the fence about this but really wanted to get into playing fretless.

I've never had a chance to play a maple fretless, but the maple boarded 5ers I've played were all nice. I can't honestly discern a huge difference in sound between the maple & rosewood, but the feel is different. I prefer the feel of rosewood, but the look of maple.

I find maple very pretty but not very practial for my applications. I prefer softer woods. The line between art and functionality. Do I hang it on the wall or play the piss out of it.

NBD for me too!!! I've been waiting for this one for a while. Sent a photo of Jackson guitar I had seen on a USA PC1 I saw called Purple Daze. Thought it was too cool. Let me know what you think!

Play the piss out of it, haha.

More looking for fretless vs fretted comparisons as the only fretless I've played was my Stingray 5 lined fretless but the tone wasnt for me. That was also the first stingray 5 I've played so I don't know if the problem was the stingray itself (not a Spector) or the neck/preamp in the bass. It had a pau ferro board if that makes a difference.

I've said this a lot recently. The finishing work lately is at the top of the food chain. Stunning! This is the kind of bass that you stare at for a while, before you pick it up to play. Congratulations on ,another, very special instrument.
