left the cancer center in chicago today and as a treat my girl took me to bass club of chicago (i think thats the name)and the guy just opened a box from spector. to my suprise it was #8 of 30... i was the first to play it as far as i know. the chrome on white just pops to me. all i can say is this cancer better get out NOW so i can get back to work and aquire one of these!
or any of the beautiful spectors i got to handle and play today.
the sales guy was so awesome. we really clicked and i could of talked for hours and played his basses!
I'm so sorry that you're having to go thru all of that cancer stuff. I hope and pray for your bodies healing and for you to have your strength renewed. How long have you been with cancer? Have strength, peace and faith brother! You'll beat this and win!

Lee, congratulations! This is very rare, I believe Flea played exactly the same Spector in mid 80s. I'd definately go for this one if it appears anywhere for sale but I think it won't as they are very rare, unless you change your mind for JJ setup

I have been looking for this sound. Now I know what bass to be used but there no such basses around(. BTW is it lighter than necktrough NS-2? And how do you find bolt-on? Interesting because I now realized that I'd rather play bolt-on cause I use a lot of slapping and BOs have a sort of faster attack.

That's an amazing quilt but way-overpriced for a Euro. $3500 puts you squarely into US-made territory.

To have a NS-2 in that Green with AAAAA maple top would be a dream come true! Whoa!!! That would suck!When Euros make it to Norway, because of import taxes and all that lovely stuff they end up costing $6,265.59. This is about 35,000kr. I have to pay twice the price on things I like just because of my geograhpical location, nobody had better complain about prices now.

Yes it's lighter. All my NS 2's have come in between 9 1/2 and 10 pounds. This 2J BO is a scant 8 lbs. 12 oz. on my postal scale. The bolt plays a tad different for sure. It's not lacking anywhere....punch and attack are right now. The slap tone on this bass is absolutely sick. In fact, it sounds so good, it sounds like it's not me. I've just never had a slap tone this good before and I've owned a few Jazz basses as well as EBMM's. This is actually my second Brooklyn 2J. I got the Willie Weeks bass from Jaymi a few months back but let it go. I swear this one sounds a little better but my rig has changed since then too (no jokes
)The growl is all there but it's just a more open and airy howl with less grind and focus like the NS 2's. It's such a different and cool tone. AND it sounds KILLER with overdrive, I mean killer!
Here's one I just picked up. It's a 1985 Brooklyn 2J bolt on that looks and, even better, SOUNDS phenomenal! It's a nice departure from the PJ setup. Just a growly, open and airy tone. Like a Jazz bass on steroids. The USA 9V and two J pups go together nicely.

It's a sickness, what can I say.
I like to get new gear and basses, I just have a problem letting gear go. I am slowly dealing with that. Some things are not replaceable.

thank you for your prayers and kind words. i was diagnosed last feb. i do have strong faith and i KNOW i will win!
i completely agree with the comments about spector = healing from some members. i walked into that bass shop in chicago after a long day of hurry up and wait just to find out everything is being pushed back due to my normal dr dropping the ball
... and i started to feel my hands sweat when i saw the first spector. (i have only a performer and i do appreciate it for what it is, after all it is still a Spector!) it was a buckeye euro 5lx. my hands are usually very cold as a side effect to treatments/ meds. i got home(a 3 hr drive) and walked into the house and my girlfriend grabbed my hand and couldnt believe how warm my hands were. being me i went to make sure i wasnt running a high fever. i was a cool 98.3... im convinced it was the 4 spectors i held and played somehow helped the circulation in my hands... they are still warm today. anyway, thanks again. and sorry for the ramble...
Figured id bump this as I didn't see if anyone responded, though I know there aren't a lot of fretless 5ers in the club. I'm just on the fence about this but really wanted to get into playing fretless.
