Yum! Great looking green Spector!
That's a beaut! Not a bad price for new.
So, after adjusting the action on my NS-2000/5, I took it to my jam. The first thing I realized is that, unlike my ReBop5, I don't need the -15dB cut on my PF-500...so there's a huge volume difference between the TP & the BT circuits. The second thing I realized is, I like the tone waaay more than my ReBop. :( I can adjust the tone to suit, without it becoming a chore!
It's a good thing the ReBop is going under the knife next month for pickup upgrades & some fret levelling, cuz I don't know if I want to pick it up anymore. lol

Sidenote: She's holding the case upside down!!!!!

The NS-2000/5 are awesome basses! My NS-95 SSD that I had, I liked a lot more than my previous ReBop 5 DLX.

I've been eying one of these for a while, but I decided I'm going to go the custom rebop 5 route (gloss green, gold hardware, maple neck, black inlays). I really wanted a USA, but if Im gonna drop that money it'll be a custom or neck through. Just gonna upgrade the pickups if I don't like the HZ's to the 35P/J set and stick with a trim T/P.

Wow Bunk, that sounds delicious! Have you ordered it? I really loved the tone of EMG-35P/J that was in the ReBop 4 DLX I had for a couple of months.

That's the route I want to go with my ReBop 5. 40P5 & 40J pickups, TrimPump pre, and I'd love to have a maple fretboard. Sadly, I don't think Spector would sell me just a ReBop5 neck with a maple board.

I have no comparison with the rebop, but I absolutely love my ns94. Those basses are a real gem for the money. Most people that own them and get rid of them, regret it. I know I did when I had an ns95. I hated selling it, but at the time, I needed money. But luckily Sam had a ns94 he sold to me and I'm as happy as a fox in a hen house :). Now I'm going to upgrade the Korean has to a tonepump. That should make it nice and nasty ;)

Not yet, I've gotten pricing, etc on the bass, just need to get my down payment set and it's gonna be in the works. I really wanted to make it happen late 2012 but it just wasnt a good idea financially. I feel a little bit more financially stable now and I'm gonna make the call soon.

You might be surprised.. A replacement neck for a bass that got damaged seems pretty reasonable, and the upcharge for maple with black inlays was only something like $150. Might be worth checking into if you've really wanted one.

Could make it switchable between fretted or fretless technically.

I really like looking at that bass, just don't know if I would like the TW's. I've never played TW's with that pre.

Yup, I am the exact same way on this. I am not a fan of the TW pickups and it is taking a big risk so I always tend to talk myself out of this bass. Believe it or not, I have never owned a bass with a maple fingerboard either so I am not sure if I would be a fan or not. Well, I shouldn't say never. I did own a Hondo bass back when I was 13 that had a maple fingerboard but that is going back almost 30 years ago so I can't remember what its like.

He actually sent me a message when this bass was being built though and is a really good guy. I just just bought the green NS-5 from NAMM and he saw the pictures and sent me a PM saying he was having this one build and gave me the specs. He also has that sweet buckeye burl bolt on 5 string with the p/j pickups so he orders some really cool basses.

That with a P/DC and Spector 18v would be perfect for a 5er. P growel with the DC. :bassist: Soon as I get a moment I will do comparsions on the difference between the j and the dc in the bridge location.

I will be interested in hearing this myself. Last year I spent a little time quickly comparing various combos of 40P5, 40J and 40DC in the NS-5XL, and I thought I liked the 40P5/40DC combo the best. However I never tried in a full band mix - just solo.

I love the maple neck on my Dingwall Combustion 5, but it's mostly just looks. I haven't had the opportunity to compare a maple/rosewood board on the same bass with the same electronics, but I've always really liked the look of the maple.

Now I just need to decide weather to go for a lined fretless maple neck or stick to fretted maple. When I had my lined fretless SR5 I found that I couldn't get a nice ballsy aggressive tone out of it like my Spector, but I don't know if that was the pre, stingray itself (my first Ray I've owned) or if it was because it was fretless.

If I can get the same aggressive Spector tone in a fretless version id really be all over that. I just don't want to make the purchase and be disappointed in the tone of the fretless neck.

Any opinions on that?

CHRIS..seems like the only CURE is MORE SPECTOR

Just the case?!?!?

:p;):D:D:D

Now that's a great wife! Ill make sure to show my wife this picture...for future use.

Wow ... the more inspiration, the better! That was real swell of her :) Stay strong. I'm guessing you have a private room?

Now that's one awesome wife!!!

Good deal, Spectors always make it better:)

This will quicken the healing process indeed!!! Quick recovery my friend! :bassist:

That's awesome.

Sidenote: She's holding the case upside down!!!!!

Yup, She's awesome. I had her hold the case for the picture, and luckily Phat she remembered to put the bass in it!

Private room with my numbers, so hopefully I'll get some playing in the next couple of days...
