Well when I opened the case the next day. There was a bunch of sticky stuff on the bass itself. I cleaned it off and once I played, I noticed the strings were dead. Ol boy that played my bass was eating right before hand. So im guessing he didnt wash his hands too well and whatever sweat and other crap was on them, got on the strings and mellowed them out badly.

I wouldn't let him handle it again, let alone play it. :ninja:

I just got word this morning.

Chris Loe lost his battle with cancer this morning.

Thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

I never met him personally, but from just speaking to him on the phone a bunch of times, he was one of the kindest people I ever had the pleasure of speaking to.

Rest in peace

Chris had the biggest heart and love for people than anyone I've known. He sent me a set of new RotoSound Flatwounds before my Coda 5 arrived because he doesn't play flats but he knew I did. What a big heart! We never met in person, only here on TB. The next time he was in Minnesota I'd made plans to drive around to meet him...

Hi Spector lovers!
I just got this beast few days ago from factory.
It's factory custom modified Euro 5 LX Alex Webster model (pearl white logo and inlays instead of red ones).

Best playing and sounding Spector I ever had. Setup is perfect!

I'm an Spector endorsee, so special thanx to Jiri from Czech factory for making this bass possible and to PJ for having me onboard.

Cheers!

:(
I never met Chris even though we're local.
He had invited me over a couple of times
(once to check out and work on a new Spector, another when he was to meet with JPS), but due to my own family issues ( including looking after my Father who's been dealing with his own cancers the last year) I was never able to make it.
Something I now greatly regret.

It's been record cold here in Vegas today.
It just got a little colder...........
:(

As a noob to the Spector community, I never had a chance to really talk with Chris aside from a few post. From everything the Spector Community has posted and lamented on what a great man Chris was, it truly is a loss of a great magnitude and a mans who's fingers and style should be honored and cherished. I personally lost a great friend in November to stage 4 brain cancer, so I have experienced the loss of a great person and personally was by his family over the following months. As a man of faith I completely know Chris is in a better place, at peace, without pain or hurt, however, this in no way will ever diminish the pain and loss his family is experiencing. For his family, wife and kids, I send out my deepest condolences and prayers that through this loss they will come to find peace and comfort in knowing that Chris is in greater company today then we will ever know in this life.

Chris, God bless your family and friends.

I'm really sorry to hear of the awful news regarding Chris as well. Though we've only exchanged a post or two here, I did read a bunch of his Wife's blog on the CaringBridge site. I found his attitude despite his circumstances to be quite inspirational, & I only wish the best for his Wife, children, & other family members. My heart goes out to them :(

I was thinking a bit while driving home from a gig tonight. Whenever I'm mulling over some sort of loss, this tune always comes to mind. Written as an elegy for Lester Young, this piece has always moved me a bit. Just thought I'd pass it along here, hoping that another member here might appreciate it. RIP Chris. You won't be forgotten.

Thanks for making the ribbon for Chris. I will display it proudly in honor of him. He was a great guy that always spoke highly of love, hope, and family. His contributions here have been fantastic. A few weeks ago he sent me some items for my students in the musicians club, which they are very grateful for! Chris was a kind soul, who fought a long hard fight. I did not know him as well as some others but we shared some cool, informative, and great conversations electronically. My heart goes out to his immediate family and sister as they need all the love and support they can get. Godspeed Chris.......may your family endure under your eyes in heaven........
