I have a P pickup on order but unfortunately, it seems like nobody has them in stock at this point. I tried ordering from this Guitar Asylum place and a week later, they aren't getting back to me or anything so i think I might need to file a claim with Paypal which stinks.

They told me last week they were moving stores but should be done by the weekend so I tried calling today and some robot voice says to try again later. That teaches me to use someone different than bestbassgear.com but they say on their site that the P pickup ships in 3-4 weeks. <sigh> :crying:

Thankfully I still have a set of 40P5 and 40J pickups at home that I tried in my NS-5XL. I almost sold them but decided to keep them since I would have lost almost half what I paid.

I remember liking the P/DC combo better than the P/J with the 18v. But I still chose the DC/DC. I need to revisit that now that I'm setup for clip recording.

Hey all,

I'm BRAND new to the whole Spector thing. I'm historically a Fender man. I'm working with a new rock/metal cover band, and decided I needed something with bigger balls. So... I decided to see what the Spector fuss was about.

I just purchased something that was referred to as "The Freak" Spector. It's a pre-LX Euro with solid maple wings and the MM114 preamp. Word on the street is it should be 90+% of a NS-2, and should growl nicely.

It arrives tomorrow. I'll have to take a loving picture and let you all know what I think of it.

Over the past week I've been sitting on my arse learning 7 songs of a band that I will be auditioning for tonight.

Since our drummer at Winter Of Freedom left, things have been stagnant and I am at a point where I feel I can't sit still and wait for things to happen externally, so I am making things happen.

By mere synchronicity, I've connected with someone who gave me an opportunity, so I took it.
This new project is a little different than the W.O.F material, but still it has some hard rockin grooves!
I'll be using the Forte again on this project as the band uses 7 string guitars so it's The Mighty BEAD tuning for this One also.

7pm (Vancouver BC time) I will be auditioning. Send me some good vibes! I'll likely be nervous :bassist: Sam said all I need to to is plug in the Spector play one note and I'm in! :hyper:

It looks like there are some interesting plans for this project in the future that I really hope will transpire, that will mean a LOT of shows!!!! :bassist:

I'll report later on tonight :bassist:

Hey Nosh,

Welcome! "The Freak" was mine for a time or two and yes you will get a majority of the way there for the classic NS 2 tone. That is a great bass....sounds awesome, plays extremely well and looks great. I think you're going to be very impressed with the difference in tone.

The people that have owned that bass now own only or 95% USA built Spectors. I have a bass that a few of us have owned and I can't exactly figure out why it was passed on either. Enjoy and welcome to the crew!

Well Hellooo Spector! Unpacked my new USA Coda 4 today.

The nice people a fedEx tried their best to destroy it, but just managed to spring open the HSC and bend the control plate at the stack knob location. Why people, why? Anyway, pretty cool, it's my new go-to bass. Don't need a number, thanks. What really made it special was the dried up baby snake I found in the bottom of the carton. No pictures, no dessicated snake, right?

oh cool. either a rat snake or corn snake. that's an unusual find. that's sucks about the damage. are they going to work out a fix?
