Sadly, no. I'm still using antiquated multi-tracking gear for recording. :bawl:

Black would look cool, and I think chrome would look really nice, but since it has the gold hipshot & the tuners aren't too bad, I think I'll just go with a new gold bridge & call it good.

Two different tones. If you LOVE the ns-4, then the ns-2 will be a different kinda like.......LOL

Just my 2 cents.....I've owned basses with both preamps and I, like you, am one of the few that prefer the DC and 18 volt circuit over the p/j 9 volt.........now I'll hide! :hiding:

So far, the NS-2 sounds a lot like my white Euro - if it were on steroids and a lot more pi$$ed off. That's through my little home rig - we'll see Wednesday how she sounds through two dozen 5" speakers getting slammed with 700 watts of Phil Jones Bass amplifier. :bassist:

And I agree about the USA 18-v pre and the NS-4 - it sounds positively HUGE. The NS-2 has some mighty big shoes to fill...

I think you'll appreciate your new NS 2's off season steroid training program come rehearsal time (game day). That's when all the hard work pays off.:D

That said, yes my NS 4 was a beast. Every time I played it, it made me want to poop.

NS = Ned Steinberger, the genius/master craftsman who designed the oh-so-sexy curved & carved Spector body style.

CRFM = Czech Republic Flame Maple

NS-2 = USA P/J model

NS-4 = USA dual humbucker model

NS-2/NS-4 = The shizzle, my nizzle! :bassist:

Just to confuse things... when basses were made under the SSD brand, a NS-4 was any US 4 string PJ or DC :D

Actually, bunkaroo is correct with Figured, as "Figured" encompasses whether it's Flame or Quilt.

Way back in the late 90's when they started adding the FM to the model, and I bought one of the first ones available, "Figured Maple" was the designation from both the dealer and my Spector paperwork.

I'm sure there's more to come - it's not the first quote-worthy Lee statement, and I'm sure it won't be the last...;)

It is, however, the funniest thing I've heard all week.
Ahh, the mighty NS-4 - capable of producing thousands of beautiful notes, including the elusive & deeply moving "Brown Note".

The ns-4 tone is just HUGE........but again, some don't prefer it. Lee got rid of his ns-4 because he likes super present midrange.......the ns-4 brings the bottom end like no other............to my ears.

I bet a NS-4 with a P/DC setup would sound nice.
