Thanks! It's not exactly the same but awfully close to mine. Unless they made the copy to look like as well as trying to sound like the Has Lab mine is the copy as well. Can anyone post a picture of a real Has Lab? I'll do a searh and see if I can find one. There should be one on Talk Bass somewhere.

There are others on here that will chime in shortly I'm sure with definite answer.

Did someone sell you the bass and claim it was a genuine Haz Labs pre?

I honestly think my favorite circuit is the USA 18v.

I played two NS-2s and my NS-4 today and man if that NS-4 doesn't always just sound richer to me. It's the headroom. But the live stuff in the mix with other instruments the NS-2 always cuts through better.

The problem with the USA 18v circuit is that it is three pots only.

These pots are attached to a circuit-board, so they have to fit into your bass a certain way. Which they will, they'll fit the lower three holes of your control cavity.

Which means you'll have a hole that you'll either have to put a dummy pot in OR... if you are using coil tapping pups you can put a toggle switch there.

I think for the purposes of what you're already used to, the newer trim pot version of the TP will make you happier. You'll be able to dial in the output you want and still have your aggressive circuit with growl.

Hopefully they will offer the mid control for that circuit the guys at HAZ were telling me about soon. That circuit with a mid control would be a game changer.

I found a picture of a Has Lab here in another classified post and it apears to me it is the copy (it looks very much like the copy and only similar to the genuine) so I have changed my post accordingly. If someone thinks differently please let me know. Thanks to all for the assistance.

Regarding the sale, the word "genuine" was never used when I purchased the bass, but below is the PM answer when I asked if it had the Has Lab pre amp with a group of other questions. I did think it was the genuine Has Lab, but possibly it was from my lack of familiarity with Talk Bass jargon.

"Yes to all the above haz lab preamp 1.5 at nut it's pretty much a USA Spector in pointy clothes"

First off, not to be a nit-picker, but the correct term is "HAZ" Lab, not "HAS". Yours appears to be a copy version. The copies are usually great sounding preamps, sometimes sounding very close to the real deal.
Here is a photo of my Woodstock NS-2 USA 9-volt Haz Labs circuit, but the Kramer NS-2 version would have looked a bit different.
As I recall, the Kramer Forum 1 basses like yours originally came with EMG preamps - not Haz Labs. I believe the only Kramer basses with Haz preamps were the Kramer-era NS-2 basses.

I found this on YouTube:
EMG BQC vs. TonePump

Dude compares BQC 18v with TonePump 18v with Dry (no preamp). Nicely done.

To my ear they're more alike than different though I can hear a difference.

I think they are probably very different preamps but the differences are overshadowed by the influence of the Euro 5 LX's construction and the sound of the EMG pickups. You would probably hear a bigger difference in a lesser bass. A Spector will always sound like a Spector.

I have a Kramer Forum I for sale here on TalkBass and was questioned about the pre amp, which I thought was a Has Lab. I was told someone here would be able to determine from a picture if this was a Has Lab, or possibly the foreign copy of a Has Lab. Can someone help me here. I don't want to be advertising Has Lab if it's a copy, or possibly even something entirely different. Thanks for any info you can provide.

At a quick glance on my phone it looks like the Korean copy of the Haz Lab pre.

Thanks! Can any others here verify?

The 9V USA circuit was designed by Stuart Spector and Hazlabs was the contracted to make the circuit for Spector.

During the "Kramer Era" Kramer owned Spector so they made copies of this circuit to be used in NS-2A's (Korean Imports of the NS-2 which came with passive pickups)

During this Kramer era there were also Korean made copies of this circuit that designed for Active Pickups.
These were used in the NS-2O USA models.

I think the circuit in your Kramer would be the same as the one used in the NS-2O model.

Thus, it is a technically a copy of the Hazlab 9V circuit.

Below are some example of Hazlabs made 9V circuits and a Korean copy that was in a NS-2A.

Finally got a chance to put up a couple of pics, recent trade with Lippylou, found I'm really comfortable with the smaller neck size, so now when sas hits where do I go ? Any other models with similar necks?

Man, i've got to start reading this thread regularly again, feel like I've been out of the loop a bit lately.
Here are the bass and drum tracks I recorded with the band yesterday. the band wants to keep the track under wraps a bit, but I figured you guys would appreciate a rhythm section preview :)
2 channels of bass going on- my euro 4lx into an mxr DI, with the direct out recording one channel, and the parallel out thru a boss bass distortion to the other, with the two blended to taste. This was all recorded in garage band, so it's by no means pro Quality, but we did the best we could. hope you guys can dig it. any feedback on the tone, mix, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

This is very interesting to me, this preamp in his Kramer Forum is IDENTICAL to the one I found and put in my NS20004, with a BLEND POT not two volumes. I originally had thought my Korean copy preamp was a freak NS-2A preamp, as many people from this club suggested, but it looks like it might be actually from a Kramer Forum!

This always confused me as to why my copy preamp had a blend pot (notice the pot on the left has 6 lugs not just 3), when the two other preamps I have from NS-2A's are volume-volume, and so far the ones ive seen posted in this club, none have a blend.

I wonder why if the Kramer had a blend pot, why didn't they use blend pots on the Spectors?

I just found this photo of circuit from a NS-2O.
These also came with Blend Pots.
