I actually had to buy something to hold my pedals for the first time in my life.

Currently I've been running EBS MultiComp -> B3K -> TC Corona Chorus -> VT Bass -> amp.

I had been using the VT Bass to give me a more "Ampeg" type of sound through my ultra-clean Eden amp. The B3K is more to give the actually grit or distortion when desired.

Now that I'll be using the MB800, I'm thinking I won't need the VT Bass in front of it since the sound of GK itself is more aggressive than the Eden. So I can potentially pare down to three pedals.

That green is gorgeous and look at that quilt - wow that rivals some of the 5A quilts I've seen on the US models.

It's a good thing that A) it's not a 5-string and B) I just put a deposit on a green Spector. So much green envy!

I concur. The quilt is killer. This may seem counter-intuitive but I posted this up here in hopes that someone (anyone) else would buy it so I could stop being tempted by her siren-like ways. The angel on one shoulder says, save your coin, silly boy for the USA build. The devil on the other shoulder says that Spector could be in your hands next week or you'll still be sitting around 5 months from now, waiting.

DAMN IT. This battling inner monologue is getting tiring. I need a nap. :eyebrow:

Well look at it this way - you will never have a problem moving that bass if you can't keep it.

My ReBop 5DLX is my lightest 5 string ever, but still has that KILLER tone & playability!! The contoured body is very comfortable, too!

Personally for me...I really didn't feel a whole lot of comfort difference from a fully contoured Euro, USA comparative to either Legend and Coda 5XL. Even though I'm 6'2" I have a flat belly, maybe that's what makes a difference, I have nothing to contour to. Lol ;) :hiding: :bassist: :D
No insults intended here...just stating my take on the contoured bass body. :)

J/K It's more weight thing, for me. The fully contoured ReBop weighs less than the Legends by about 1-2 lbs.

I'd say one of the best examples would be to listen to Bootsy Collins, just gives you an auto wah effect.

I have several pedals and since I like to write on the bass a lot for my projects, I use them to create some dynamics they are not always used in the band situation but they help to spark ideas and convey the story line. When I was in cover bands, I found it a necessity to have pedals in order to recreate the songs covered. We played a lot of Tool at one time and I had every pedal that JC used in order to recreate his sounds. Even RATM has quite a few pedals in order to cover correctly. Try to recreate Eddie Jacksons tone live without some pedals.

I like being in a three-piece...I find it interesting holding down the groove or even creating fills in the places that are recorded with keyboard parts (can't play to much but just cover whats needed for the song), do you get to do that when some of your guys might be missing?

Yeah I mean there are a few spots on the record where the guitars drop out, and I don't use those spots to go nuts, but I definitely up the melodic ante a bit. I mean it's not like I'm suffering or whatever - I like playing a lot of the riffs straight-up. I tend to not do the same part the same way twice anyway so each pass through a verse evolves a little for me.

Depending on the mood of the song, I mean if less is more then let the part be void of excess or set the next part up with a little drop down void before all the hell breaks. BUT, we play covers so most of the time you have to cover the song as recorded filling in dynamics of parts recorded by Keys or a second/third guitar or get caught playing a campfire version! lol
