Just got back from the monsters of rock cruise. Wicked fun! Not a lot of Spector guys , but the nee bassist from TNT is a hardcore spector junkie. He was rockin a low sn# blue kramer era ns2 and was way cool to talk to ( he noticed my spector shirt n we started talking). Interesting tid bit.....acording to the bassist for Tesla (way cool guys btw) he used eddie jacksons white ns2 for almost the entire psychotic supper album. He said he loved it till eddie wanted it back. Lol. Good times! Now to hunt down my ups box at work! :)

Let me know what you think about your new "box"

That's some awesome insider knowledge right there!

Looking to re-do my pedal board, so a quick poll for my fellow Spector-loving bretheren. I'm currently running a Boss Tuner, Boss EQ-20 programmable equalizer and a Boss CE-20 chorus, and I would like to retire this board to the mini-rig at home, & build something similar (but higher quality, & with a few extra "spices") for live use, so...

MXR Bass Compressor, or other?
MXR Bass Envelope Filter, or other?
MXR Bass Chorus Deluxe, or other?
Whirlwind Bass 10-Band EQ Pedal, or other?
Darkglass BK-7, or Darkglass Vintage Microtubes?
Sonic Research Turbo Tuner, or other?
EBS Stanley Clarke Wah - yea or nay?
Fishman Fission Powerchord - yea or nay?

Thanks.

Bad ass! THAT'S the tone right there! Great lick my man.

Well done! I dig it!

Very nicely done! I'm hoping to have some clips of the Sonuus Wahoo pedal my wife said came today with some Spector tone soon as I figure it out.

Agreed effortlessly funky!

Thank you guys. The tone of this Brooklyn NS-2J with HAZ is pure "early Flea" tone. Aggressive but airy at the same time, though you can easily dial some jazz-bass-ish tone with it and that's what like you Lee earlier said, jazz-bass on steroids. So with this bass you basically have JB character in compact NS-curved Spector body (which is one of the reasons I still prefer Spectors to any other brands because it's super comfy). I recently compared my Kramer NS-2 with Brooklyn NS-2J having strung them with new sets of same strings and made some conclusions. NS-2J will never replace my NS-2 but is rather a different bass worth keeping. 2J tone has different type of growl especially if played closer to bridge. And it's a tad lighter than necktrhough making it excellent touring axe.

Well I've been tracking my Euro on the UPS site...It's due to be delivered on Friday the 22nd.
I just looked at the UPS site and it is here in Ontario, California at the UPS airport hub :hyper:
I hope my initial delivery date of Friday will change overnight to tomorrow :hiding:

Anxiety kicking in knowing that it is literally only 10 minutes away from me sitting there in its case :(

As for envelope filter - I'd try 3 Leaf Audio Proton. Amazing thing - a clone of Mutron III in a light compact housing. As for Darkglass pedals I'd just take B3K. Too many controls on B7K although I haven't tried their Vintage Microtubes...As for EBS Stanley Clark - to my ears it has very mid and high scooped range, I prefer my Plutoneium Chi-Wah-Wah bass wah bedal. Again it's very compact.

On the pedal front, I just got my Darkglass Vintage Microtubes. Paired with the B3K, it is really awesome in that I can use the vintage for that warm, tubey, overdriven tube amp sound and the B3K for a harder distortion. Great pedals!!!!

I also want to be in a club... So here's my Euro Rebop 5 :)

Bought it used in 2009, and I love it! Both sounds and plays great, maybe the most playable bass I've tried. I also like the light weight, only downside is the heavy neckdive in live situations. But with a good strap it's not that big a problem.

I have to say this thread makes me want to spend all my savings on a Euro LX5 or 4, even though i just bought a MIA Fender Precision...

Great, congrats with a good choice of pedal! I thought you could also adjust B3K settings to dial in softer OD. Just playing with Blend and Drive knobs.

nice! everybody can use a p bass, but a euro or euro lx 4 is a great way to get that old ns2 nastiness at a good price. check out brotherbassj's Ian hill for a great deal on a neck thru Czech bass. for a bit more, bunkaroo has a Kramer NS2 at a great price in the classifieds now. buy his and your Spector gas may well be over forever!

if you pm tracebassplayer he'll give you a club number.

so.... I bought Jeff's black crfm, I'm looking forward to having a great BT preamp bass in my possession again. if the haz's get back in stock anytime soon I may do the swap. don't know about you guys but i think the old dot inlay Czech basses just have an understated coolness about them.

Congrats on your most recent bass aquisition Jim! :bassist:

Also thanks for the plug.........:D

When I was considering buying some pedals a while back, I discovered there are TONS of video on youtube that give sound examples. That could give you ideas what certain pedals sound like.

It seems like spectors take pedals pretty well, some basses don't.

I eventually decided to be a 0 pedal guy.:hiding:

Tried to sell my Euro last Saturday, told myself I needed the money. The night before I spent two hours setting it up real nice, and six more hours playing it. I wound up setting the asking price way too high and when the guy looked ready to go for it, I asked him to please not buy it and offered to reimburse his gas and time for coming to look at it. He was nice about it and I got to bring my baby back home.

I would have kept my word and followed through with the sale if I had to, but that was a close one!

Now I have to figure out some other way to raise money...
