For compressors I like the Markbass Compressore. Sounds very natural and it has the controls to tweak all the parameters you really need to tweak.

Damn eh, glad you kept the bass!
I feel like my Spector is just one piece of gear that wont be leaving me anytime soon, I have other gear that I would always put up for sale and I'd never let this thing go unless it was a real emergency and I needed the cash NOW.
I've found that a lot of the guys I've met through selling/buying gear over Kijiji/Craigslist have been pretty good, honest guys (as far as I know), and though it would be disappointing to think you're finally getting your hands on a Euro Spector and the seller changes his mind, I'm sure the guy understood! I'm also pretty sure that the second you showed him the bass in person and he got his hands on it he's now gonna be Spector hooked and will be on the lookout for another one. What Euro were you trying to sell?

That's interesting....it had some truss rod repair but if it's done by Spector tech it should be ok. Hmmm, I'm looking for a5er )))

Look into the EBS multicomp and the Markbass Compressore......I find both to sound better to me than the MXR. I have had 5 envelope filters......neat but rarely use them. A chorus is cool. Look at EBS, HBE, whatever you want there. As far as grit goes, look at the b3k or the HBE hematoma.......tuner? whatever your heart desires. As far as wah goes.....i liked the morley dual bass wah most out of all the ones I owned....again though.......more of a toy for me.
I think if you don't really need em......don't buy them

They are different animals. The B3K can be dialed back, but not in the same way as the vintage. For me it is the perfect pairing.
That's awesome Jim. I thought long and hard about that one. Glad it went to a club member. You're right about that understated vibe. It's got it in spades.

I use the EBS MultiComp. I really like it. It is not the most transparent but the tube setting adds a touch of warmth to my GK 1001RB II that I really like.
As far as tuners go, get two:
1. A nice strobe that stays home for purposes of setup & intonation,
2. A Snark headstock tuner. In a live situation, the audience, even other musicians, are not going to notice or care how perfect your tuning is plus or minus 3 cents. Your pitch varies that much just due to how you fret the notes, how hard you pull on the neck, etc. They will notice how much time they had to wait while you were tuning. The Snark is easy to read and tracks well even down to the low B, so you can whip that bass into shape in a few seconds and leave it on there to monitor your tuning all night. I wouldn't use it for setups, though, I have a Pitchblack for that.
I find the new tiny PlanetWaves headstock tuners don't track that well, especially the B string. Snark is way faster to use.

They did the same fix for me on an old NS5CRFM. They pull the rod out through the hole at the headstock and flip it around or replace it. Works just like new afterwards and there's no major surgery done to the bass. You just need the tool to grab the rod and pull.
No big deal at all!

Here's my 2 cents on others:
MXR Bass Octave Deluxe and Bass Envelope Filter are nice and reasonably priced. Haven't tried the chorus.
EBS Chorus is nice and has a flanger mode if you want that.
I had the EBS WahOne. A lot more tonal diversity than others I've tried. I switched to the Plutoneium Bass Chi Wah Wah for two reasons, size (fits on my Pedaltrain Mini) and switchless (I don't like clicking a Wah on and off).
Ya know.
I had dropped out of music for 15 years and when I woke up my first question was,
"What is the best bass for metal?"
The nice folks at Bass Central pointed me at a Spector Euro and the rest is history.
Then I discovered TalkBass and promptly facepalmed over having asked that cliche question. Lol.

One last thing on the pedals. BassEFX.com has lots of great demo videos on the different pedals they sell.
When my ReBop needed truss rod repair, it was as simple as shimming the truss nut with a washer, because it wouldn't adjust the neck even at full turn.
According to PJ, the rod can be pulled right out through the hole & replaced with another. I may need to do this at some point, as it still doesn't feel quite like it's adjusting anything.
For a chorus, get a TC Electronics Corona Chorus! They're reasonably cheap & are wicked on a bass!!! 3 chorus options, too.
I'm going to be adding an MXR BOD soon, but my board consists of a Korg PitchBlack (Best tuner EVER for Low A/B), a Boss LMB-3 Limiter (although it's really more of a compressor), a TC Electronics Corona Chorus, and an EHX Bass Big Muff Pi.
My only beef with the setup is the LMB-3. I don't like buffered pedals.
You know I've been playing rock and metal for almost 25 years, and yet I've only been on Spectors for the last 3. Truly a facepalm. I was using a Stingray 5 for a while and it's a great bass, but the Spectors really just own it. Last year this time I had 4 or 5 EBMM's - 3 SR5's and 2 Bongos. I now just have my original SR5 left which I keep for sentimental reasons.
Spector is really all I need now. I've tried Fender P's and J's, a Lakland P, a Modulus Q5 - none of it moves me like the Spectors do.
