soooo busy at work. Didnt get to plug the Rex in today. Tomorrow I will bring it home restring it and lower the action a bit put my Dimarzio clip lock strap on it and toss the 18V kit in it.

Here are some comparisons.
At the time these recordings, all of these basses had Rotosound Steels on them.
The Buckeye NS-4 is John's bass, previously owned by Mr. Chris Loe.
Notice in these clips the NS-2 P/J Spalt/Walnut with the 9V USA sounds very close to the NS-4 P/DC Buckeye/Walnut 18V USA. Circuit.
Thus if anyone is still waiting on a 9V Circuit because of the Backorder. You may want to try a 18V USA Circuit.
Remember the 18V USA Circuit is only 3 knobs but it can be easily put into a Std 4 hole Forte, Euro or Asian made Spector.
1-NS-2JJ Redwood/Walnut, 2-NS-2 Solid Maple, 3-NS-2 Spalt/Maple, 4-NS-4 P/DC Buckeye/Walnut

I'm liking the Forte with 9V as it stands out in sound to me, a lot of these sound very much the same doubled up like this....very cool sounds!

JA-R outstanding basses. I made the mistake of selling mine. Ubnomar sold it back to me, I will be forever grateful. Light weight, very responsive, resonant. Leo Quan bridge. One of these years I hope to be able to buy another.
Brother Lee is right as rain. I put a little frill on mine but the concept remains the same. I will add that the OBP-2 preamp that they come with sounds great. Add a HAZ and it will sound a little greater

I have a question about the Tonepump preamp. I seem to have the old version of the Tonepump: the one without the trim pot. The output of the preamp makes the Spector a lot hotter than my other basses. This is no big deal, but it would be nicer if I could tame the output a bit. In this case I don't have to change the setting on my overdrive pedals all the time.
I've done some research and found out that the Tonepump is made by Michalik. It's basicly the Invalid Link Removed. Now, I've seen on the Michalik website a schematic of the preamp for use with a balance pot. Invalid Link Removed As you can see, the master volume pot is a 50k/A pot "behind" the preamp. Interesting!
I was wondering. Is adding a 50k/A trim pot on this position also a good solution to tame the overall output of the Spector? This should be easy to implement.

Another reason this club is cool- someone here has always already had what ever you are getting, and they are always excited for you! ( unlike my honey who only pretends to be because she loves me.
It's nice to have a new bass coming and be confident I'll like it before it even gets here!
Finally, she has arrived with me after a painful wait (ordered in September)!

Sweet! I love the BEM neck with the satin finish, and the flame in that top is perfect. Nice score.
I would have never thought it before hand but I've really fallen for the satin finish on my NS-2J. It always looks clean with no smudges or fingerprints and is so smooth to the touch. I probably start ordering all my basses in this finish.

I got mine on a fluke. I had started playing again after a long hiatus and decided to get an active bass for the first time. Shades of Rip Van Winkle, I know. I did some research, found the Spector Club on TB and that reissue model run was selling then. I never expected the quality I received for such a low price. They originally were marked at $1999 MSRP but street price was $899 with an OHSC at Sam Ash.
My only guess was that it sold slowly because it was a JJ and not Spector's usual PJ.
Someone once commented in these pages that it sounds thin in a large venue but I'm not likely to experience that. I will say through an SVT in a studio it growls for days. I'd like to hear a sound clip of it next to LimaGuy's various NS and Forte clips.
