Do you mean the standard Matte Polyurethane finish? Or is a "satin finish" something different?

Sorry I was being lazy and just using the term satin as a general description of the finish.
Jumping back to the Spector website to see what they officially called the finish on my bass - it is in fact a "matte polyurethane" finish as noted in the attached link...

I'll probably continue to use the term satin when conversing in general terms since its about 13 fewer keystrokes;)

Good luck! :ninja: That's a really big order to keep. S.A.S. is the strongest compulsion known to Man! :rollno: I hope/plan on keeping what I buy from here on out. I LOVE my Coda 5XL DLX...hoping it stays in my arsenal! :bassist: I've established after 4 years and 12 different Spectors, what I like to my ears/eyes. :D :bassist: It's a journey for sure! :cool:

Interesting!

I was wondering. Is adding a 50k/A trim pot on this position also a good solution to tame the overall output of the Spector? This should be easy to implement. :)

Hmmm...very interesting. I just lower the pickups to tame down that pre.

I got mine on a fluke. I had started playing again after a long hiatus and decided to get an active bass for the first time. Shades of Rip Van Winkle, I know. I did some research, found the Spector Club on TB and that reissue model run was selling then. I never expected the quality I received for such a low price. They originally were marked at $1999 MSRP but street price was $899 with an OHSC at Sam Ash.

My only guess was that it sold slowly because it was a JJ and not Spector's usual PJ.

Someone once commented in these pages that it sounds thin in a large venue but I'm not likely to experience that. I will say through an SVT in a studio it growls for days. I'd like to hear a sound clip of it next to LimaGuy's various NS and Forte clips.

I only have direct studio experience with a NS-2JAR and it did have most unique natural growl of any Spector I have owned.

Regarding the Thin sound in a large venue, I know those who have had NS-2JAR's or NS-2J's,
have said it doesn't cut through as well against a wall of guitars.
But they also did note that the bass still sounded great.

As for the clip comparison.

Ask, and the Spector Godfather delivers ;) :bassist:

The NS-2JAR below is the same bass that is now owned by Mr.Bassie720 also once owned by Worshiprocker.
