Wow. Great day in the Spector club. Beautiful new basses, guys, big congrats to you both.

Well I am getting ready to head out for a couple shows this weekend. The CRFM & Euro are still my go to basses. We have some things in the works and there will be some touring coming up, hopefully we can make it out east by the end of the year.

On a side note, I did some tweaking..the Jade CRFM is now running the TP at 80%. the Euroburst is running the TP at 60% bypassing the volume pot and only running the P pickup. I call it "ode to Iceboxbass" cause he is always talking about wanting a Spector "P" bass..

How did you bypass the bass /treb n blend? Did you short them together? Or use a resistor ?

Walnut, yes. I stand corrected. It was a Jazz I just sold that had a slice of rosewood between a walnut back and Koa front. Speaking of Koa, Spector ever use it in a bass? I had the Jazz and BC Rich Mockingbird and still have a Modulus all with Koa. Beautiful wood especially the flamed.

Not that I am aware of. But honestly there is no telling. Stuart sometimes experiments.
He did two Wenge necked basses year before last.
So anything is possible.

I didn't bypass the bass/treb. There is no blend, they are vol/vol. The J pup is disconnected and the P pup is wired directly to the TP. black to shielding and white to white.

Has anyone here seen the used Coda on GC's site? Looks like the pickups are the Nordstrand big single-coils. Is $2k a good price for this one?

I had a conversation with PJ Rubal this morning about Redwood Burl.

I got a really nice email from Stuart complimenting me on the composite photo of my Water Cured Redwood NS-4.

Sam Cerami and anyone else with one of those rare models made with the WCR can attest that really nothing quite shows off how amazing the grain is.

But I really gave it my best college effort. And I was really pleased that Stuart was very happy with the end result.

This led to a conversation with PJ about the Water Cured Redwood models and how much I (as a personal preference) love that wood. It's the most amazing, beautiful, tonal wood I've ever seen or heard.

And yes, more composite Spector photos are in the works.

I shot a Holoflash Rex model recently and did this same thing. Holoflash is another finish that's nearly impossible to photograph and show how cool it is.

that was a great photo, very clever. Can't wait to see the holoflash!

true.

There's some tricks with the pump, and they aren't setup optimally from the factory imo. it can do the US 9v tone well as well as a bunch the us9v cant. The 9v trick is a good one though, probably the best one actually.

To me the aggie just doesn't sound like a Spector is supposed to, which for me is 99% of the reason I play them lol. It is a great hi fi boutique sounding pre though. I would like to hear a Spector with a Sadowski pre. His pre is pretty good sounding and accentuates the mids in a less aggressive way.

I like the TonePump fine but I love the Aggie 2/3 even more...one of the most diverse pres in a Spector, IMHO. I can dial in hi-fi, aggressiveness or smooth Mo-Town. Which I believe most if not all of the Spector installed pres are that way. They all just need to be tweaked one way or another.

the low E growls and snarls open, barks when fretted, the A has the howl! about half way up the neck though things mellow out and the highs get glassy n classy! amazing instruments!

very cool!! I knew they were VERY similar! I can see how technological advances have played a role in the minor changes!

I am still curious to see if age, wear and usage will affect the tone of the pre...I guess only time will tell.

I agree that Stuart and HazLabs nailed it from the start!

For what I understand about instruments...the frequencies played on most instruments whether it be built of wood or metal...seasons the instrument...therefore...the more you play and more age, the more it seasons...better sound. So play, play, play!

Finally finished with paint removal. I did some of it, but I had my boy Chris Bavaria do the hard parts. The horns and the curves and contours. I was afraid to alter the shape of the bass. For this picture, we wet the wood to highlight the grain. As you can see, there is a lot going on there. Flame, figuring, light and dark areas. I like it a lot. It's a CRFM I bought from my good buddy Jeffplaysbass. The neck is beyond Kramer era thin. It was already thin and it was shaved even more. It has the graphite rods in it, so it should remain fairly stable. I use regular gauge strings tuned standard most of the time, so the neck moving shouldn't be an issue. Time will tell. Still up in the air about what color, if any. This will definitely be a matte finish. That much I do know. I hope Coop doesn't mind me posting a picture of his Kramer NS-2 which is also in the process of getting a refin. His has some really unique wood. It's beautiful. Here is mine. The picture below is Coop's.

That's in credible that you can do that. I go as far as doing my own setup...that's it I wouldn't dream of removing anything myself... I would even get someone to install my Detuner for me.
Nice looking though! Transparent black would be wicked on this one!

This is one of the most awesome looking Forte-4 basses I've ever photographed and it has a similar sort of figuring...

After an almost 9 month wait my new NS-2 showed up today. It was definitely worth the wait.

Here are the specs:

Matte Bahama Blue finish
Birdseye Maple fingerboard
Black Mother of Pearl Inlays
Black Hardware

Unreal. That blue is fantastic, esp when paired up with a BEM neck. I can't wait to check out those pics on a real non-iPhone screen. Congrats!

I was really lucky to get this bass, since the seller (in France) didn't answer to most people who requested his attention regarding his bass, but he answered to me when he saw that I already had a Modulus Q6 Turbo, and that I was looking for a complementary bass... A few days later, I received the Spector case... and DAMN ! this bass is beautiful and awesome !

After testing it for a while, I really need to change the electronics, because I'm really into 3 band preamps, and I don't really like having two pickup volumes...

If you have any recommendations in terms of preamps, btw... I'd be happy to read your suggestions !
