I am soooo frustrated, I love the D'Addario strings but they just won't fit in the bridge I'e crimped, hammered, done things I really shouldn't have but it will not go in.

Do I need to get a Badass bridge or something? I'm seriously considering it now. The Spector strings are OK but I want my D'addarios!!!

Is it just the low B? What bass?

It is just the Low B, and it's the Euro 5LX

I once used a metal vise for that, it's a rather brutal approach, but it worked.

Is vise the right word? I mean something like this:

I had the exact same problem on my Euro.

Some of us don't advise this but... I broke out my drill, took the bits and found the first size that wouldn't fit in the Low B string hole and used that to open it up just a hair. I can now fit 130's in there and they are solidly in place. I must be on my 6th or 7th set of strings since doing that with no more issues.

Just be very careful to only widen it a touch. If you go too far you're buying a new bridge. :scowl:

I'm seriously thinking about an ultraviolet NS-2 with an ebony fingerboard. So... I took David's ultraviolet bass body and added the ebony neck from Todd's Purple Daze so I could see what that looks like.

I think I'll go for it!

At least that's one way to get my hands on a 9v Haz!

Yeah I order from him exclusively. I can't get any good strings in Norway, just the cookie cutter crap.

That purple bass looks like a dream. I love my instruments to be black, or some variation on it, but that is like.. Wooahaww!

Comment regarding USPS Parcel Post.

As many of you know I am "shipping" insane.
checking tracking #'s (OCD)
venturing out to find the UPS guy etc...

I had a bass shipped to me once from Southern Mass via USPS Parcel Post.
Keep in mind Southern Mass to NYC would be 1 day via UPS or Fed Ex ground.

It took 8 business days for the bass to arrive to my local post office via the tracking number, even after that, I waited 2 days and it never came.

(Apparently, they just kept forgetting to give it to my mail delivery person.)

I eventually went to the post office and asked them to go in and find it for me. Luckily the lady at the post office was very cooperative and found it for me which took about 15 mins.

USPS Priority Mail or First Class mail for small items is great. Stay away from Parcel Post.

Many times the cost of Parcel Post for a large item is as much or even more then UPS or Fed Ex Ground.

Parcel Post tracking is also very unreliable (not real time)

You guys may want to even pay a visit to your main USPS facility in your area. It may be just sitting there a few miles from your house.

Preach on, Godfather! I spoke with the postmaster and while sympathetic, she basically said that there was nothing they could do. Lessons learned. Clarify the shipping method on every sale/trade beforehand. And avoid Parcel Post like it's an STD.

Aw Donny I'm sorry the bass hasn't arrived yet :scowl: I'm not afraid to be proactive with the shipper...so if it doesn't arrive today I'll start an acquiry from my end. I've never had USPS take more than a week on shipping.

Does anyone have any tips/advice regarding payment via PayPal?
I've used it dozens of times to buy things, but I've never used it to receive payments....

That amp is pure horsepower man....also it works well as a power amp if you wanted to run say a gk2001 rbp or ampeg svp through it with that pretty coda!

Cool! I also have a brand new in the box Berlinger 1000W Nuke power amp that I can use with this if I'm feeling like melting people's faces. Haha

Genius. I'd even take it a step further and black out the hardware as well. But that's just me.

Just something to keep in mind when using Paypal. If they buyer uses a previous paypal balance or pulls the funds out of an attached checking account, you won't get hit with fees. If they use a credit card (or a debit card in the same capacity), you'll get hit with a couple of point in fees. In a large transaction, those fees can really start to add up. The rub here is that TB does not allow you to tack these on. Just something to keep in mind.

That should be a refund of shipping costs right there. Awful. It should be upgraded at the very least. I sure hope it's not on its way back to Alaska

Sounds like postal worker moral is in the toilet... I know when I visit our little post office in Pellston the 1 postal worker always looks so down, so I try my best to cheer them up. I definitely know what it's like working for the Feds and having your job in the balance from day to day. :scowl: Not a fun place to be...

Just give them your registered paypal email address and payment go to your acct. Minus 2.3% of the total payment is paypals fee. Pretty easy or paypal echeck takes 4 days to clear but no fees for either the buyer or seller.

Well said and great point Sam...I'll not use USPS again after this...this is my second bass that I've sent out USPS and the first bass only took a few days going from northern Mi. to southern Texas. For me up here (In the sticks) UPS, FedEx, and FedEx Ground prices have about doubled. I used UPS & FedEx until their prices got enormous and then FedEx ground followed their path eventually. I too believe in helping USPS out in their seemingly dire times but...NO MORE if this is the service they're giving their customers.
