Appears to be an early SSD era NS-4CRFM. Early models came with a Czech made "Haz Copy" Abalone Dot inlays.
Same guy who designed the Tonepump, made the Czech Haz copy.
people told me not to get haz pre with out a trim pot because it was to hot. I have not had a problem with it. When it does overdrive the pre (bass and treb wide open) it is very musical. I love the sound and the input gain can handle the output of the haz pre. any thoughts about the haz pre?
Without seeing the headstock this seems to be right on the money.
Unusual color though.
Got my Bass Driver DI tonight, Im gonna do a BDDI Vs M80 shootout. I didnt like the ParaDriver at all but I liked my last Bass driver.
So it's looking like I might be acquiring another Spector in the next week or so...details when the sale is confirmed, but it does have more strings than any of my other Spector basses 
Guess I better start looking into what basses I'm not playing as much and make some room in the stable!

Went and saw Alice In Chains with Chevelle last night, or as it should have been called: "growlapalooza".
Dean's bass tone with Chevelle was great, and they were blessed with a great mix for an arena opening act, "The Clincher" in particular absolutely killed and the band sounded great for the whole 45 minute set.
Mike's Spector got a lot of stage time too, probably 5-6 songs of the 17 song set, and he was well looked after by the FOH tech, no buried bass there at all. His tone was absolutely killer, especially with the Spector; dirty and nastier than a 3 legged junkyard dog but still full of bottom end.
Mike also pulled out a semi hollow Warwick for some of the Jar of Flies material, overall it was a killer show, with AIC playing a longer set than usual on this tour.
William DuVall also sounded great, and did a great job of the old AIC classics and sounded great on the newer stuff too, but Inez and Sean Kinney were on fire and locked in all night.

Yeah Mike's live tone is one of my all time favorites. He uses his Spector for all of AIC's drop D (C#) stuff.
I decided to change the tuners out on the fretless. There was a bit of neck dive with the Gotoh's so I went with a set of Hipshot ultralights (set of five) which are significantly lighter!

I believe neck dive refers to the headstock dipping when you let go of the neck while standing up playing. The weight of the tuners could make it worse.
Nothing nearly that drastic
It was a bit heavy on the headstock side of things which cause it to 'dive' that direction when draped over the shoulder or sitting on the knee. It's nothing a set of ultralights couldn't remedy because they are MUCH lighter than the Gotoh's! 
Thought the extra milling would prevent this from happening, was this bass purchased new from Spector?
Yep! It was a custom order that I received from the factory about 2 months ago. This is not an uncommon to run across. My old Warwick Corvette 6 had AWFUL neck dive!
I think it's really more personal preference than anything! I know a bunch of people who have basses that have 100 times worse neck dive than what I had and it doesn't even phase them. I bet most people wouldn't have even noticed on mine, but it's just something I notice and then can't un-notice. I'm just OCD like that!

The Hipshot ultralights went in as a direct replacement for the Gotoh's or was any routing needed?
