I am really digging mine. The neck is slender for those that like 'em thin. Soundwise, I was very surprised on how many tones you can get out of this thing. You can go from a mellow, warm sound to an acoustic-esque tone to a grindy P bass thing. The piezo pickup can bring the pain if you want it to (wide open) or just add a touch of that tinny, acoustic sound.

Neck pocket is tight and I'm impressed win the build quality. When playing unplugged it's louder than a straight up electric but not as loud as an acoustic. It offers me a huge departure from my PJ equipped Spector's. Just a fun bass to plink around on but can get serious when you plug it in.

With people selling their Euro4's for $800, it's going to be hard to move any Spectors for the next little bit. That is, unless you want to lose out heavily on what you've put into it.
It's a real pity, because I was hoping to move my ReBop 5 and my Fender Classic 50s P to fund an EBMM 'Ray 5. I know, I know...blasphemy...but I can't afford a ReBop 5 MM.

Well feeling gassy I just bid on the black ns2a o. Ebay. If I win it ill drop my seymours I it and give it the Kip Winger lines he had on his.

Also ill throw this out there. If some one wants to swap my litebrite rebop for a ns2a hit me up.

The black NS2A on eBay is a Samick era bass, I just sold one of these a month ago. Not sure what the stock pre in the Samick basses was - anyone here know? Mine had a BQC in it when I traded for it - it didn't have the stock preamp.

I hear ya. Definitely don't want to wait 9 months before selling, though. If he paid $800, that's a wicked steal. I wish I could have found a Euro for that price when I was in the market. I might not be selling my 'Bop if I had.

So after giving my Legend some new strings and taking it out for a couple shows, I came back to my NS2A at practice tonight. Fresh strings and everything, I might actually be leaning towards the Legend as my live bass for a while. don't get me wrong.. JADE is my #1, but I need to replace some pots in her I think. some scratchiness. hmmm the Legend necks are swaying me too, I LOVE the legend necks... ugg, sometime having this many basses can present a challenge. I only have 4 that I use for Defy, I don't know how some of you do it.

Contacted seller and retracted bid. Dont wanna take guesses on preamp. If it doesnt have hazclone not interested.

I've bought and sold several Spectors over the past year and a half so I guess that I'm part of the problem as well as part of the solution. I tend to move stuff more/less for what I paid for it.

You know I thought about this discussion more and I think maybe it came across a little harsh.

I mean I don't think someone like you is doing anything bad. I think a big part of it is just the churn of people trying a lot of different stuff. I've done that myself. If you have a bass change hands a few times in a year, and every time the seller is willing to take a small loss to move it, that's how you wind up with dirt cheap basses. That's the only way I can explain my NS-5XL.

Personally, I never want to come across as someone trying to "flip" a bass, so I am careful not to list for more than I paid.

I mean I don't think someone like you is doing anything bad. I think a big part of it is just the churn of people trying a lot of different stuff. I've done that myself. If you have a bass change hands a few times in a year, and every time the seller is willing to take a small loss to move it, that's how you wind up with dirt cheap basses. That's the only way I can explain my NS-5XL.

Personally, I never want to come across as someone trying to "flip" a bass, so I am careful not to list for more than I paid.

I wonder how much of this is just us wondering why everyone else doesn't love these basses as much as us.

Well they pretty much are the antithesis of a Fender bass IMO, and Fender seems to reign supreme around here.

It is a sellers market.

The seller sets the price and then agrees or doesn't agree to the purchase if there is an offer, sometimes we win or sometimes we lose and that depends on what you think the value is of the bass your wanting to sell and if there is enough people out in the market with the ability to purchase at the selling price.

Fender wrote the book on electric basses and has decades of momentum going. Hard to beat that.

Plus it just an easy go for bass players to simply default to Fender. The sound is so prevalent, and the fact that the quintessential Spector has a "P" and "J" pup combo is a direct nod to that sound. Stuart was just trying to make it better. (and did as we know)

I guess what I'm saying is the seller is in control and decides if he wants to sell or not even if there isn't enough people in the market...but...the only thing is, it makes the seller have to hold onto something he no longer needs!
