Gorgeous pair!

Seeing these two together makes me think what the buckeye burl with BEM FB would look like?

After speaking with Mr. Jimmy Eppard, we will not be swapping out the tonepump. Mine is normal. But the 94 still needs a look over![]()
I really can't believe how people are driving the market down on these basses. A mint Euro for 800, I would rather keep my basses than give them away. Pretty soon the'll have the resale value of another brand we are familiar with.
The Webster is really the last Spector I'll ever be selling, and I may still keep it. I just can't reconcile letting it go for anything less than I have it listed for right now. The 5LX was bad enough. The Webster I've played way more than I ever played the 5LX, and it's superior to the stock 5LX in many ways.
The US basses I have are never going anywhere unless selling them is literally the difference between being out on the street or not.

It's not the buyers that are driving the market down, it's the sellers and the market is not that saturated that warrents used Rebop and Legend prices. People are paying the prices because they are worth it. You pay 2 grand for a new Euro and turn around and sell it a year later for under 1000 that's crazy. My basses mean too much to me to just give away.
Kind of like how the covers bands will undercut each other to get a gig and in the long run, everyone's screwed.
I guess part of it then is guys wanting to move on to different basses and selling at crazy prices so they can get what they want now. I can understand that, but it does get buyers used to prices being in a certain range.
Like when I got the Euro 6LX-EX I had, I paid $1300 or so for that shipped with a case. Just obscene. And it looked like it was brand new.
Hell, even my blue NS-5XL I got for what I consider a ridiculous price. I basically paid $1400 cash plus a trade on a bass that probably wouldn't have sold for more than $800. So $2200 for a neck-thru US 5XL with high gloss. That bass would list for around $7K today, and almost certainly sold for close to $5K to whoever originally bought it from Musician's Enemy. It's like once the initial guy took the hit on it, everyone else was happy to let it go low since they weren't losing much. That thing ain't going anywhere now.![]()
ink ink ink ink! Thanks guys! I'm pretty excited to get some new ink!![]()
No doubt, I have two that I mention earlier that I am going to list at a fair resale and if they don't move they will sit here for photo ops and to be worked into the rotation. Just dealing with shipping basses is enough to sour me on selling. I would love to feel like I gave someone a good deal rather than ****ed in the ass by someone that will not appericate it as much as I do.
Speaking of loosing money, has anyone talked to Jeffplaysbass lately![]()
ink ink ink ink!
I wish I could afford to buy these basses. Every spector I have bought used was either from a TB member or sold to a TB member except for one. I have always received a deal and I always try to pass on a deal.... but a deal is a deal, loosing tons of cash on a bass is not cool. I still have his old NS-4CR. Although, I'm trying to work a trade + cash for Jamie's 4LX.![]()
I've always thought it best to have an expert to bring my basses to if needed. I've been known to tweak a bridge or two; or a truss rod. I've also been known to muck things up too.

:scowl:

Just a quick question to the Spector clubbers, because I don't exactly get it.
Do you guys really think that my USA made, played once Spector Shorty I should sell to you for the price of a Euro?
Sell to me? I don't want a Shorty.
Can you elaborate a little on what you really mean?
Well Tom, it's all about what the market will bear. The Shorty is only $700 (list) more than the Euro, and I suspect that the Shorty is not as desirable as the Euro due to it's scale.
You say "played once" but it's still used, just mint condition (I assume). And I'm figuring you are referring to a used Euro. There is much more demand for them.
Maybe one of the other guys (Sam, Patrick, Todd, etc.) could elaborate and let me know if I'm off base but that's how I see it.

That LX is a great bass, I played it when I picked up my Euro.

Well as some of you may know already. I listed my forte 4 in the classifieds this week it has been a decision I've been struggling with and I've decided that it is only right that she gets used and not just sit as a collector piece. I play my stuff and when I don't they must go . So if ya'll happen to know someone interested and you refer them to me and they purchase it for my rock bottom price of what I got it listed for I will give you a kickback . (Hope this is not against the rules)anyways this issue of Spectors on the used market going for less and less is a condition of a number of things and most of you named one or two of them earlier. Bottom line is buy what you want and keep it or don't go lower than what you think is reasonable for your Spector model . I feel my forte 4's price is reasonable and is exactly what I paid for it three months ago and is absolutely worth every damn dime.
Haven't been on here much getting ready to move into our new home with my new Spector studio !
Cheers to all my Spector brethren. Jody
