The Legends are great when upgraded, I have the same as yours in a 6-string, with EMG pickups and BQC preamp.

Lot's of us use the 'crown' creative cuts inlays, I've got them on 3 of my Spectors. They look good, the abalone ones are a bit flashy, I have them on my NS-2A and they look a bit more like holoflash, but they still look good.

just message them and ask for one single one for the 12th fret. they always send me the little ones too and I end up making a sort of "custom" inlay for the 12th fret.

I've never understood exactly what's needed to do this correctly. I'd love to have a setup like that, though.

Along the same lines, Mike Kroeger uses a 3-way split. Low end clean, high end clean, low end with dirt. It's quite pretty & amazing to hear live through that Peavey rig of his.

We've been in love for several months. The effects and amp models are as realistic as it gets, they sound way better than my guitarists Boss multi effects. The tuner is crazy accurate, even when I tune the low B down to G. The compressors are much better than the one built into my amp. The looper is really handy as well. I love how you can blend effects too. I've been blending some grit and reverb to make do until I get my Orange.

I highly recommend copping one

My zoom has two outputs so I'm just going to run the left to my Ampeg and the right to the Orange. I could split the highs and lows, but I think I'm just going to cut the bass and boost the mids and treble on the dirty channel and add some reverb on the orange, while leaving the Ampeg clean. It's my dream tone

I have the same era 1987 NS2A, no serial #, with no sharp volute on the back of the headstock as well. Oddly enough, in 25 years I have never had to adjust the truss rod either, it can (and has) gone from a gig on the coast to a bone dry outdoor gig on the prairies without a hiccup.
I have owned several other later model (1988-1990) NS2A basses that had a more sharp, defined volute and I had plenty of issues travelling and gigging with them, so much so that I traded 2 of them after a west coast gig when the humidity wreaked havoc on the neck.

There's a pretty sweet Legend Custom for sale in the classifieds, don't see many of these up for sale. The set neck and the HZ pickups are something you can't get from a new Legend, and these basses sound great with the HZ's and 3 band EQ. No affiliation with the seller, just a nice bass and a great price too.

I've been missing lots of these Spector Threads this summer, as I'm spending way less time on the Net while it's so nice outside.

I've seen several posts regarding neck size recently. Specifically the concerns about the USA necks being quite thick for comfort. I'm playing a Forte-X dated 10/11/10, & although I haven't had the pleasure of playing more than a half a dozen different Spectors in the past, I can tell you that the neck at the nut on mine is way closer to a J than a P. It's really comfy and fast. Here's a few pics taken a few weeks ago when we were house/dog/cats/plants sitting at the 'bass' of Mount Si ... 30min east of Seattle.

PS- Ice, I hope you're getting better by the minute :)

Not sure what year mine is. NS#8106 is on the back plate. Any bass I buy I send to Mike to do the initial set-up on it. That way I know he will catch anything (that could be wrong with it) I may have missed when I bought the bass. I traveled cross country to get to me and it changed hands a few time before I got it. Where I live it rains a lot and we've had a very warm and dry summer so far. Also when I got the bass the strings were a lot smaller than I use, so I put my size on (.110 E string) and just adjusted things enough so the strings didn't buzz. The neck seems rock solid and stays in tune well. From here out I will make any adjustments myself, although I doubt there will be any....

I've been doing some road testing on a DI box with everyone's help and suggestions from here. But I found myself drawn to the B3 while giving it a run through at the old GC. It has a DI out with compression along with modeling that sounded very good without ant of that unwanted whine or his common with a multi function pedal. I am seriously thinking of picking or up.

On a side note, anyone interested in a MXR blow torch. Used very little in home and never gigged. Looks flawless and sound just mean as heck. I just don't have a real use for it playing in a worship setting. Even just noodling around I mostly use chorus and a looper

Good to know its just as good at home. I've been running one through its paces at a local GC and have rely liked it but haven't pulled the trigger yet.

I used to hit my distortion when I would at worship practice every now and then. Then play some high G string bends.....Every time the piano player/WD would give the guitarist the stinkeye....:D

Took him a while to figure out it was me messin with him....
