THIS is what I believe is going on at where I play on Tuesdays :scowl: Bad electrical situation, VERY old church building, possibly oldest building in the village. :ninja: A good idea would be to get a Furmann conditioner to eleviate the hum? Thanks!

I doubt that would work.

It has to do with different electrical components of a sound system running off different circuits on the breaker box. The different circuits have a different grounding situation. Many sound systems have the power amps in the other side of the other side of the room of the soundboard. Therefore on different circuits. Which could result in a buzzing sound system. OR the soundboard and power amps are in the back of the room and the bass amp is in front, again, on different circuits.

You could experiment with a long extension cord and plug the bass amp in the plug/powerstrip that the sound system is running off of. See what that does.

This situation happens a lot as we play different locations and is the reason for getting the On Stage Cables In-line audio series passive direct box, model DB500. This unit doesn't power up so there is no plug in that will be affected by the ground yet it still has a ground lift in case there is a problem with another unit, just need some 1/4" connections.

I hadn't thought about switching to "passive" mode on my Coda...I wonder if that'd do the same as the passive in-line DI?

Ah okay...the soundboard(small 12 channel) & 2 power amps are plugged into two power strips but plugged into the same outlet in back, opposite side of room of where bass rig is plugged into. I'll give the extension cord plugged into the power strip where soundboard is plugged into a try. Thanks! Sorry everyone for taking up talk with non-Spector talk...but my Coda will appreciate it. :bassist::D

Hey guys , I'm back from a long break from talkbass . Anyway , this may not be allowed here , but it's Spector specific . I'm gonna have a 71-73 ish SVT head an cab for trade only for 4 string Spector bass . I'm in Alabama an we gonna need to keep this in a drive able trade situation . Anyone interested send me a message .

Hahahaha! That's one of my all time favs!:D Busts me into stitches every time. Especially when driving between the two semis and John turning into the devil etc...hehehe Good One! :cool:
