Not that the OBP-3 isn't a great preamp. I think everyone should own a Euro5 with one (hint hint :D)!!

and there aren't that many Spectors out there configured with a P pup and an active/passive switch? (to the best of my knowledge)
Yeah...I've heard a lot of great things of the Euro-5's...can't afford one right now...and my next 5r is going to be either a WCR NS-5XL or an Exotic Top Coda 5XL DLX with PJ pups...which ever occurs first. :bassist::bassist: (Imagine a Coda 5XL DLX with Buckeye Burl Top W/Ebony FB and Abalone inlays )

Same reason you can't get a p bass to sound like a spector.

I'm actually working on a project to test this theory. ;)

Dual EMG 40HZ (to cover a bad J-pup bridge position route) in a Fender P with a non-trim TonePump circuit and a Spector bridge. As soon as I'm done stripping the body I'll be starting on the routing & finishing.

If it works, I may try to shape the headstock like a Coda. :D

I think the test is to compare a stock Fender P with a stock NS-2. ;)

There's been so many great new Spector's here on Talkbass recently. I couldn't help but tease you all with a new bass that is shipping to us tomorrow.

This is a new custom color called Black/Gold. We had done one this color as a custom order earlier in the year and we thought it so beautiful that we had to do one for the store. This is high gloss on the body and the neck. This has the wide spaced neck and thin front to back. I can't wait to get it in the store to test drive it. Another winner from the fine folks at Spector!!!!

Soapbox Please!...

If you don't like the Fender Precision Bass that's OK, don't play it. (personally I wouldn't play one unless I had to) Just remember though, every Spector we own has it's roots in that bass. It's the first electric bass guitar of any consequence. It's possible to not like someone and still respect them. If you can't show the love, at least give the respect.

After all, we're all about tolerance here. Well except worshiprocker, etc, etc, etc... LOL

OK... back to our regularly scheduled Spector talk. :D

Ok, let me rephrase myself. I have all the respect in the world for Leo Fender. Like you said, without him, we would be in a different boat. But I still can't stand playing a 2x4 fender p bass. Thanks, but no thanks. :p

Wow! That's awesome! :bassist::bassist::bassist:

Anyone here have a comparative sound clip of a Euro 4LX equipped with a Tonepump vs a Euro 4LX fitted with a USA 9V Haz circuit?

The tonepump+EMG's just isn't working for me in a live setting. I need some more low-mid growl to help me cut through the mix. Will swapping out the tonepump for a 9V US Haz in my Euro 4LX give me what I'm looking for?

Thanks,
Duff2

If you give me a couple days, I will send you a file of my 9v equipped Euro. Drop me a PM.

I love P bass tone. A good P bass, a pick through an SVT set flat. Yessir.

Yes, I will be the first on the Spector P bass train when it arrives. I have always felt the P was more popular than the J and wondered why Spector started with the Coda J instead?

Great color Todd, Spector P in that color with black hardware = smoking :bassist::bassist:

I talked with a friend of mine who has recorded in Nashville and he said that a lot of studios have Spector basses and they are used on a lot of country songs on the radio today, even if the bassist is endorsed by another brand they still select different tools to use...not saying that everyone is using Spector but he did say that some of the best bass recordings are with a NS2. However, not everyone wants the active tone or pickups and the majority do use Fender. I personally like my Fender P-bass and all of this talk is making me want to pull it out of the case and play it, it is a wonderful bass and I want to use it as a model to create a Spector Coda P-bass and I even sent pictures of it to PJ and Todd requesting a 1.625 nut due to my long fingers...I just want a plain black high gloss bass with a BEM neck and a P only pickup, that to me would rock!

My word...if my consolidation loan has any wiggle room in it when I get approved, I'm totally taking this off your hands!
