It's always a blast getting together with Jody. I got to play his new non-Spector, real good sounding bass. Play thru a couple amps, TH500 and GK 800, which I've always wanted to try both, and thru 2 Aguilar 12's. I must say, I'm going to have to buy a couple Aggie 12 cabs. Love the tone of the TH500 thru the Aggies. :bassist:

By build your own, do they send you the unassembled cab and you build it? I'd be down for that. :)

I like his new Fender Jazz, wish I had shorter fingers so I can play my Fender Jazz...I fit the 1.5 Fretless but the fretted 1.5 isn't for me!

So I made the trade for a the ns20004. I'm very happy with it. It was obvious it hadn't been played in a while but after a thorough cleaning, oiling the frets, stringing, and setup, I'd say I came out on top. I traded a squier vintage modified p (albeit a minty, fret leveled, beast) for it. It came with a brass nut, Schaller straplocks, and a case. Only pressing issue is the tuners need to addressed, because 2 out of the four have missing washers and a third is cracked. They still hold a tune but id rather some new or newer ones. Went to my practice space and played it for about an hour and was overall impressed. Not blown away but impressed. I bet that a pickup chang swap would change that completely. I've already did the 18v upgrade but haven't got to try it yet. That will happen tomorrow at practice.

I am curious about which preamp I have. There is no housing or name on it but it does have two dip switches that have the number 1 & 2 under them. 1 is under the left and 2 under the right. What do these 4 different possible settings do? Thanks for the help.

Some pictures of the bass itself. Forgot to mention earlier, but it has a few dings but nothing serious and no missing paint.

Yeah so I'll beat the search nazi to the punch ;) after a quick search I answered my own question. It's a emg bts. Now if I could get some suggestions for those of you that have one and our have used it. What setting do/did you run it on? Also what settings equate a 1, 2, 3, 4 (i.e. 1 on 2 off is 1, 1 of 2 on is a 2. That sorta thing) Of course I'll do my own trial and error, but I won't have much time to do it tomorrow so I'd love to get a rough guess to start. I like my tone with the highs dialed back and horn completely off on my cabs. I play stoner/doom with a peavey vb-2 all tube and aguilar db 810. I realize ymmv just hoping someone does something along the same lines and could give some insight. Thanks.

They're supposed to do more of a "vintage" tone compared to fEARfuls. I think Husky runs one now if I'm not mistaken.


You can build a fEARful yourself completely, but a flatpack and assemble it, or have one built for you. The dually and fEARless you need to have done by an authorized builder. Are fEARless for everyone? Probably not. But if you like huge low end, (without mud) great dispersion, and low weight, you should try one if possible. Sometimes the fEARful guys get a bad rap on TB. Most are really good guys who love their cabs. 2 sites for more info. Not trying to convert those who love thrie cabs, just spreading the love I have for mine.....Go ahead, drink the kool-aid......:D

:cool: I checked these sites...I noticed on the greenboy site that you can either, buy an empty cabinet to assemble, buy the speaker kit, or buy the deluxe kit with everything included? Mighty pricey for DIY! :eek:I can only imagine what an assembled Fearless would cost. :eyebrow: Before laying out that kind of dough I'd have to test drive one. :ninja:

Congratulations on a great bass! A beauty! Don't see the NS-2000/4 in trans blue much. I've had a NS-95 & NS-2000/5 with the BT pres and HZ pickups. The NS-95 loved the tone as it was! Wish I'd kept it. The NS-2000/5 I decided to experiment and swapped out the BT pre for a HAZ 9V copy (MIK). It gave the bass more growl but I believe if I'd swapped the HZ pups for EMG DC's or the 40J/P pups it would've been a total BEAST! :bassist: Worshiprocker has it now...sounds like he put a TonePump in it? You won't go wrong with the TP, especially for just $99.00! Some like the TP...I'm more of an Aguilar OBP 2 or 3 person. But for what you play I'd suggest the TP. It'll make that NS-2000/4 a beastly bass! And then take it to the next level and put some EMG DC's in it. :D:bassist:

WoW! Look at the flaming on that bass! Either the Euro shop is buying a better lot of Maple or Stuart is shipping some good ole USA Maple to them. :bassist::cool: Congratulations!:hyper:

I have been running the DR Lo-Rider strings for 5 months and the Ernie Ball Cobalts for 4 months. I switch between the basses but have been playing Scarlet with the Cobalts a little more because I'm liking the Pau Ferro board, I keep everything clean plus I don't sweat much unless it's a very hot or humid day and I don't see any fret marks on the string bottoms...I actually didn't like the tone of the DR strings at first because of the brightness but after they break-in is when you get the true balance, it sounds like I'm the medium guy on these strings as most of you like the heavy guage. The Ernie Ball strings seem to have a nice Mid tone and match up great with Pau Ferro.
