What Sam says, as usual, is correct. I take the finish off and then turn it over to the pros. You can save a couple of bucks if you turn it over to your finisher naked. I have a good friend that does most of my refin work. Chris Bavaria of Bavaria Finishing in Baltimore Maryland. He made his bones at PRS for 17 years before opening his own shop.

Your soundtrack is AWESOME! You have great talent! :bassist::cool:
I totally agree with Donny :). Go for it! After the refin, you will have a new instrument on your hands. During the refin is also a great time to shave your neck, if you're so inclined, or make any modifications. I will now shamelessly take this opportunity to show my last refin with some minor mods. US 9V and black powder coated brass bridge.

+1 on refinishing! You might find yourself falling in love with your bass all over again. :)
Mr. Bassie, impeccably delicious looking! I never get tired of looking at her.
NSD!:hyper: Rex Pro 4. I'm finding myself gravitating towards a detuned/BEAD 4 string setup and this is a nice complement to my NS2000/4!:bassist: It sounds great already, but debating about throwing my Trim TP in it..

So many times I've come close to buying one of these...recently looked at a Rex 5 on GC used site. Beautiful bass! :bassist::cool:

I forgot to ask you how the Fender 610 cabinet is sounding compared to the Ampeg 810 Donny?

after one practice and one gig I'm loving it. Its a different beast since its ported and has a tweeter. Its more open and a bit more mid focused. I'm still dialing it in to exactly how I want it but I'm loving it. Also it is a bit more gritty compared to the ampeg.

the heritage 810 it has Eminence LF drivers and the fender Fender® Special Design Eminence they are different speakers but are similar in voicing.

My band likes the fender better :)

Lol. Go figure,I thought the opposite of the fender 810. Good sounding cab, more open but boomier and less mids than the ampeg. Also more hi if sounding. Is that the pro?

Do it! They're great basses! I love my Rex 5 and recently considered letting it go to pick up a 4 string but I'm happy I decided to keep it. Now I'm considering swapping out the pups and pre (might even throw an OBP in it, who knows, I love the OBP-3 in my Euro).

Nice, I haven't found much of the high end Fender stuff here, only the Bassman stuff. Is that the Pro or Neo series cab? Sounds pretty comparable to my Mesa PH610. I usually leave the tweeter all the way off but it has a nice well rounded aggressive tone that can't be beat IMO. I wish I had more cab selection locally. Theres a bunch of stuff I'd love to get to try out but probably won't because nobody carries it.

I did notice that when I put it against the wall or in the corner it gets BOOMY. It is the PRO model.

ya same issue here, not much selection but I was at the right place at the right time.

A friend of mine told me how much he loved his Fender PRO rig when he was endorsed by them. So I thought I'd try it out. I have heard the 810 bassman neo cab and it sounds great too.

Is it a little easier for you to move around?

Yeah I would've but I was searching for a fretless 5r...
Same here about trying out a variety of anything up in the boondocks. But alas...the week of Christmas we'll be making the pilgrimage to Columbus, OH. While there I can spend some quality time in GC AND Sam Ash...oh yeah, and with our kids. :D Taking Big Blue with us and my new fretless bass. :) Ah...civilization, culture and all that stuff. Haha

Lol. Yeah you gotta watch that with ported cabs. I almost pulled the trigger on one of those for a good deal, but had to have the ampeg.

I'm not sure what cabs matter all that much any more though honestly. I've been toying with the idea of a speaker simulator and a monitor or just my rack n a monitor. Just say screw it and let the FOH handle it. Lol. I'd miss the feeling of having a fridge on my back though :)

I've toyed with the idea of IEMs and put a sub somewhere around me just feel the vibrations.

Well, thankyou very much :) I wish I still lived in MD; I'd go right over to the company you mentioned. I'm doing a search around Norway :)

Thanks!
