Well ill put it out this way: can I use the b string for the tunings I mentioned?
if its the 35" scale version, yes. as others have said, can be done on 34" scale, but not sure you'd like the tension on the strings.

Haha, thanks Carey.![]()
NOW, I sold the Carvin amp today, yay!Now my quest for a fretless bass!
First preference is Spector of course...it's about impossible to get "THAT" tone out of my head after 5 years of playing Spectors. Carey, what pickup & pre config is your fretless? So is that what I have to look forward to once I've played fretless and gotten used to it?
Seems to be the way of true fretless players I've heard.

cover that? blasphemy
Ever since I heard Dan Briggs using a Legend 5 fretless, I was sold and love the tone he gets out of his. I skipped to the part in the song where he uses it but be warned, the song does get harsh in certain parts

HahahaAn "Advisory"?
If we were getting that much snow down here it wouldn't be an advisory, they'd be announcing:
"Abandon your posts... Flee for your lives!" LOL

HahaBring her in Ice she's getting cold.looks she's turning blue!
Take Care,

All three shows went great, Friday we played three one hour sets and with the road condition wasn't expecting a lot of people but it was packed! Saturday we played our full set list of 42 songs at a new club and started off slow but after the first set it filled up. Sunday was 4 songs and I was only running on my wake-up coffee and made a little mistake!
I only use the fretless for the cover band and on songs that have been recorded using fretless (Pink Floyd-Hey You, Ozzy-Mama I'm coming home) but the band leader at church was showing me a song he is interested in which has the fretless sound...so...gotta do it! lol You will find that its a very natural sounding effect and once you introduce it you will miss it if you don't have the time to bring it with you to a performance!

Sounded like a lot of fun had in a weekend! Thanks John! I found the fretless at 5:32...the tone is really outstanding! Love it! Which bass was he soloing at 1:52, his Euro?Ever since I heard Dan Briggs using a Legend 5 fretless, I was sold and love the tone he gets out of his. YESSounds awesome!
He was playing his NS2000/5 when they played here and the tone out of that thing was ridiculous. I would've loved to hear the fretless live, I've never heard a fretless Spector in person.
on a side note - finally a supporting member!![]()

How'd your Friday gig go otherwise? Do you play your fretless for Sunday service mostly?
Haha, I think about the Pearl white pickguard once in awhile...
I definitely use a 90 degree instrument cable on the Coda. Pushes in harder than other Spectors...there's a audible click when seated. I like this position better also.
Half what keeps me from putting a cover on Big Blue. Love looking at her maple top!

Hahaha!Good one.
Time to go snowblower the driveway...don't know why...snowfall is 1-2" an hour right now...expecting 12-16" by Wed. We're under a Winter Weather Storm advisory until Wed. 6am. Gotta keep ahead of the snow pile. Now I can snowboard!

I have been swamped over with work and projects and stuff, so the whole nomination thing may have been an ambitious task for me![]()
I did just get this finished though, that my Spector brothers can have the very first peek at![]()
For my Progressive-y side project Electromagnon.

mmmhhh tasty Spector tone. B3K at the end?
Yeah thank you! But I'm needing a 5 string fretless. A beautiful bass and good price though. There's a SSD NS-4CRFL in the classifieds!
Nope. That is his NS 2000/5 which is his main bass both live and in the studio. He gets that massive tone live too which just floored me and has made me want one of those basses ever since.

Does he modify the NS2000/5 or run it stock, How about the fretless????
dang thats nice
I wonder what kind of rig he has (did you see him mic the cabinet) and direct send he is using for the board? From what I have heard about it, it is stock. Not sure about the fretless since this is the first time I believe he has used it that I have noticed. From looking at the live videos posted on Youtube, he doesn't even use the fretless on the song but you can see him go over and step on a pedal in this video at about 11:53.

Unfortunately, it isn't the best quality since there only seem to be cell phone recordings of their shows but his bass even cuts through even on videos with terrible sound quality![]()
