First preference is Spector of course...it's about impossible to get "THAT" tone out of my head after 5 years of playing Spectors. Carey, what pickup & pre config is your fretless? So is that what I have to look forward to once I've played fretless and gotten used to it?

So long as the nut will accommodate the gauge of string you want to use then you can tune however you want. The neck can be adjusted to suit your needs
The 35" scale TW comes standard with a nut set for EADG. You need to ask for the option of BEAD tuning and that will handle the larger strings.

He was playing his NS2000/5 when they played here and the tone out of that thing was ridiculous. I would've loved to hear the fretless live, I've never heard a fretless Spector in person.

I've located a couple of Legend 5's for $299.00, not fretless though, so I'm going to send an email to PJ to see if a fretless neck can be bought for a legend 5. I'm hoping really hard!

Haha, I think about the Pearl white pickguard once in awhile...
I definitely use a 90 degree instrument cable on the Coda. Pushes in harder than other Spectors...there's a audible click when seated. I like this position better also.

Nope. That is his NS 2000/5 which is his main bass both live and in the studio. He gets that massive tone live too which just floored me and has made me want one of those basses ever since.

Ah...so you're wanting a NS-2000/5 huh? As you know already they don't come up for sale too often. I bought mine from GC used Spector page earlier this year. The one Donny has now. Be aware though John, the string spacing at the bridge might be narrower than what you play now. That's why I sold mine. Otherwise, man that bass is a hidden sweet treasure!
From what I have heard about it, it is stock. Not sure about the fretless since this is the first time I believe he has used it that I have noticed. From looking at the live videos posted on Youtube, he doesn't even use the fretless on the song but you can see him go over and step on a pedal in this video at about 11:53.
