Replacing the EMG's gave me more clarity and dynamics, and of course I lost the sterility and it now works great with dirt pedals. My NS-5MM also has a Bart instead of the stock EMG :)

I guess. I hadn't thought of trying to source a used neck. It's not often you hear of a ReBop being parted out. They're no Fender. lol

Honestly, I don't know. If it was shipped as a gift, probably not. I hadn't thought of having someone else ship it up.

I found a calculator. If I buy the $450 neck & the shipping is $50, I'm looking at exactly $576.77.

$27 in duty
$31.62 in tax
$12.50 in conversion (whatever the F this is)
$5.65 in brokerage

So, that's lower than I estimated, but still on the high side.
$461.91 if I get the $350 neck (assuming it is $350).

So, definitely getting a used neck or having someone ship it to me as a gift would help, as the declared value could be put down as lower without it being illegal.

Mine was never sold to an individual. Went from one store to another store then to me.
I think he has the new bridge with the intonation adj screws. Maybe he upgraded it or it's an RI...
If it's upgraded, I'd like to know as I might like to do mine as well.

Thanks for the compliment on my NS-2J.

I couldn't sell it to anyone due to the nature of the damage it sustained in the fire.
The repairs I made make it a pretty good player but, it will never be right. It lost a lot of moisture in the wood too fast, I think.
The neck has a very slight lengthwise bow that brings the E string a tad close to the edge around the 9th fret and I have mangaed to roll it off a few times.
I think if i were to hang it sideways on the opposite bow it might straighten out. But, I tend to forget about things just long enough to come back and find it bowed too far the other way :rolleyes:

So, it's 2014. What bass or basses would you like to get this year? What's on your radar?

I'll go first.

1. Black with gold Euro LX or Ian Hill. I've played some great Euros, from what I understand. Spector designed these to sound more like the old Kramer era basses. I think a euro would go well with my Forte. Of course a Kramer NS2 or SSD ns4 would do.

2. A jazz type bass. What I really would like is the classic looking Coda Jazz basses that they don't make anymore. I like the classic look with a Spector neck. I would consider a Fender if it was the right one.

3. A ns2o.

I'll never be able to afford all 3 but 1 is realistic.

I'm game:

1. I'm fighting the urge to get a Spector fiver, that's the impetus behind the BEAD talk. If I get the new band gig I am going after, I'll need a low B. Hope to try out a few at NAMM and make a final call after that.

2. Still have a desire for a Coda P. Maybe talk to the folks at NAMM about that too.

I just want myNS4CRFM back! Went out for a possible truss rod replacement at the 1st of Dec and it's still in the que to be looked at. I'm trying to be patient but it's hard. I just want to know if I'm fixing to face what Akwilkie84 is having to deal with.

Coda-P most definitely, I've been hankering for an older Rebop-5 like the one I used to have as well...and another NS-2J with a slim/shaved neck...I'm still kicking myself for missing that one on eBay yesterday

Todd Cooke is Bassboy01, he will find a way and help you out...you might have to do the Spector dance to show your love for the bass but what the heck! lol
