SPECTOR® Club - Part 74

FYI, just ordered a tone pump from PJ and he said (non confidential) that they just completed the first two true Coda P basses (with P pickups only, a P body and neck) and will be displaying them at NAMM. If one doens't sell I'm buying it, and if it does I'm getting one made. Freaking stoked!

He has what? Where? I'm still staring at the UV Coda. I just want to dive into all that beautiful purple quilting. :eek:

I think Ho got the one he chose because it's matte poly. That one left is a Special Edition #1 of 8. :bassist:

So is the 'special edition' called special because it is taking the retro look (before the Spector bridge and using the Badass) yet adding the crown inlays?

That Coda has your name all over it Jeff, do you like the 1.5 neck width at the nut?


I would tell her that it's a custom shop/american build and if that's not her thing then she should work towards getting a Euro or a Korean model purchased for him! lol

I don't know if I could "get next to that". The only Jazz I ever owned was a fiver. It's just that this Coda is so gorgeous.

My NS2 though, with the 1.61" nut and the shaved neck is just perfect as it is. Plus, to me? Nothing beats the NS body style. Now, maybe if it was a five string? Hmmm...

^^^ this...is the primary reason I'm going to NAMM, to see, feel, drool all over these.

Owned? No. They're not my cup of tea. I prefer spartan vehicles with balanced power to weight ratios & maybe power windows & power locks. :D Not much for wood trim, leather seats, etc. To each his own, though.

That could be why I want a US Bolt-on in matte white & am thinking about refinishing my ReBop in that colour if I can fix it. lol No need for a beautifully figured wood. Not that there's anything wrong with those. I think they're absolutely amazing...and Patrick's Black Pearl tops every one. I would have babies with that bass. lol

We shall see. :D I have a plan in the works where I'm putting a chrome Spector look-alike bridge on my P-bass & installing a Tonepump. :D It'll be like a Coda-P Pro. ^_^ Now, if I could find someone to swap me an EMG P-bass pickup for my SD 1/4-pounder. :P

Thank's for the info. on the special editions. The Ultraviolet Coda is beautiful but I can't do a 1.5 because of my long fingers...I get cramps unless it is a fretless.

That would be very cool getting to go to NAMM, please take plenty of pictures for us...especially on any new stuff!!!!

I imagine Hanser has more experience with the Legend basses than the Woodstock shop. In their defense I think for new basses this is true, after-market options are another thing. Todd did get a quote from them for what I wanted and they said $349 for the neck. What I got was MUCH cheaper so I'm cool.



Can't blame Ho. He was in that "I just bought a new USA Spector Baby!" brain fog. :D
