I think what we're saying here is that the used market for Spectors offers some great basses that give you some serious bang for the buck.

But nobody will tell you not to but the bass that moves you.

Now my two cents...

Can you throw a couple hundred into the pot? If so you might be able to get this...

Aargh! I wish those had been around when I bought my bop5. Maple board, matte finish with an MM? SOLD!

That is really all that matters, but he did ask for our opinions on the price ;)

It's certainly a good deal, just not a steal, and personally I always go used (unless I'm buying something spec'd to order) simply because you get about twice as much for the same price.

After all, with the money he'd save buying used he could upgrade the pickups to his choice of active EMG's and the pre to a TonePump/EMG/Aguilar circuit and end up with a better bass than the new stock version :bassist:

ya they are worth every penny. I bought a new legend 4X and didn't regret it. The used market is always a better deal if you are strapped on cash, but knowing it is brand can be nice as well :)

99 bucks more and I have a warranty... I'll pay the 99 extra for a new one. :eyebrow:

I had always thought that Wimbish necks were thinner front to back - I never realized the nut was slightly narrower.
Even though the neck on my NS-2 is slightly wider, it is thinner (front to back), by about 1/16".

My Wimbish neck is definitely C shaped and what I consider a wee bit chunky... and fits me perfectly. It's definitely less fat front to back than my Euro LX. My old NS4CRFM was the thinnest front to back of all my Spectors. That was a great bass, too. Damn, I love em all!!!

NEW Legend 5 Classic is $929 CAD, or $1028 USD through Musician's Friend. eBay & Sam Ash are $799 US or $885 CAD, but then there's currency conversion fees, duty, brokerage, tax upon entry to Canada, etc.
$799 through a Canadian dealer is interesting. It makes me wonder what the mark up by the US retailers is if the Canadian dealers can sell them for effectively $160 less, or more since they had to pay the import fees up front.

I totally agree. Save up for a couple more weeks or sell off some unused gear. That Matte Blue MM ReBop is Sweeeeeeet

Wow - exactly the same thing for me....

My old CRFM had an amazing neck, but I never liked the EMG preamp in it, and I got tired of waiting endlessly for the US 9-volt circuits to become available. Wish I would have kept that one...
