SPECTOR® Owners Club

Saw that one and was quite intrigued. They actually had a 2014 in better condition listed for the same price but I missed out on that one. I noticed it was missing the “Spector” truss cover...wasn’t really sure what to make of that, but the price did seem pretty good. Not sure how often these come up for sale used.

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed] (this is a pretty good price).

Woah, what am I looking at there? Never seen these much less heard them.

The pickups are Sims Super Quads so they allow you to switch each pickup from split coil (P pickup,) single coil (jazz pickup,) and humbuckers. They are the same pickups in the Rudy Sarzo signature model and give you 15 different pickup combinations for the bass so there are a bunch of tonal varieties. The last time I spoke with PJ, he told me this was the only US Forte with these pickups in it but that could have changed in recent months. I will try and get some better pics tomorrow as long as it's nice out :-)

Here is a video of Rudy talking about the bass and he explains the pickups as well

I can't believe I missed the Euro 4 Mike Starr that was on the used GC site today. It was listed at $1300. I'm still kicking myself for selling the one I bought from Jeff (it had a HAZ pre and sounded incredible). Of course, these are now about as rare as hens teeth...
I seen that and it would have been a great bass to collect...but, the haz loaded into one would definitely be the way to go!

You know, I try and resist. From Anton's NS1 build to Jeff's "Omer spalted", it has been incredibly tough (especially considering I bought new cabinets and a new amp). All that being said, something else popped up, it was a bit cheaper than the aforementioned basses that would have set my credit on fire, and I jumped at it. Lord, it never ends!!!! :help:

I know what you mean. Looking forward to seeing what you got...

At least I know someone who has made more unplanned Spector purchases than me!!!! :smug::roflmao:

Once Jeff sold the "Omer Spalted" one, I had to purposely ignore yours!!!! I'd love to grab it, but along with Anton's, I just could not pull the trigger considering the ol PayPal credit balance. This was a cheaper item that selling my Jericho will at least eat up a chunk of. I still have to pay off the Bergantino B|amp I got. Not to mention the no interest/payments is coming due on the washer/dryer we had to buy (how boring, that could have been a nice bass instead)!!!!

The only thing I can say is that I didn't have to finance any of my basses. But, now Linda is on my case to change out the bathtub, toilet, flooring, redo the walls and medicine cabinet. More, or less, a nearly complete bathroom upgrade. She laid it on me that if I can afford to get all those basses, I can afford to upgrade the bathroom. I have to admit I've promised her I would do that for the past 6 months, or more, now I have to live up to my promise. No more basses for now, and the NS-2 Spalted Maple will help pay for the bathroom upgrade...:(

The "Omer Spalted" was retail therapy for me as a way to deal with some of the crap being thrown my direction in life. I've always loved that spalted NS2 from the first time I saw it, so when it popped up for sale I jumped all over it. It's both a great (and quite aggressive while being clear) sounding and great playing bass. I got to run it with the band tonight and everyone commented on how it sounded. I can see why @husky123 always said it had mojo.

Now it is time to track down a white Kramer, but I know that is going to take a little while to find. I still have to sell off my old NS5CRFM as well.

Yeah, I think you got one of those special ones. Congrats on owning it, and good to see it be in good hands!!

Well my new Spector is here and I am blown away. The quilt on this one is truly unbelievable. It looks 3D!...like you could just lose your hand into a black cloud..In total awe. (edit: after further thought I am going to call it: The Black Cloud) It will ominously lurk over all who hear her and be haunted forevermore.

After extensive setup and new prosteels I am slowly getting the feel for the bass. I am blessed to own such a mean bit of gear. 2018 fit out is as good as I have ever seen. I noticed that they now run Gotoh's on the Euro series now and they have a separate battery compartment that is decent. Anyway In the second pic you can see that this one has to compete with to seriously awesome thumb basses but i have room in my heart for them all lol. One very happy man right here!

I practiced last night for the first time in about 4 weeks. I was getting a lot overdriven type sounds. Clearer at upper frequencies, muddier at lower notes. Even with all effects bypassed.
My first plan today is new batteries. They are probably a year old. But I always keep the bass unplugged and even when I am playing it's usually with the preamp bypassed. Does a battery problem seem the most likely?
I have made no set up changes. The only gear change has been newer quality headphones. But nothing else.
Thanks.

Congratulations on you first Spector:thumbsup::cool: It’s a beauty!:woot: Glad to hear they’re putting external battery compartments in them now.

I’d say that’s most likely the culprit and a good starting point.
