I think Dave Fowler has a Kramer era NS5 for sale on Facebook, I'm not sure if its the model your looking for (headstock shape) but its black...I guess you can always message him on Facebook to see if he still has it available!

Dave replied yesterday. He really has one and it is exactly the same gloss black as my two NS-2s. Everithing is good apart from asking price which was higher than my expectations. To fund it I have to part with my keeper NS-2 and I'm not sure that I'll like 5er more than my current 4 bangers. My main concern is that I can't slap and pop with this tight string spacing cause all 5ers I had before were broad necks.

It sounds like your Spector/Kramer NS2 is a keeper and a lot of guys can definitely understand not wanting to part with it, will Dave negotiate a better deal for you (I mean, we all know that his Spector/Kramer NS5 was built in a limited quantity which might keep it valued high but maybe he has some wiggle room that will match your funds)?

It's weird how I haven't seen a kramer era NS2 for sale in such a long time. A couple of years ago, they were always coming up. I'd love to have a black kramer era ns2.

If the asking price is high & you're unsure as to whether you'd like it, I say don't jump on it. Better to be happy with what you've got than to take a risk like that one.

Neck is extremely bowed outward, broken truss rod. This is the 4 string. I sent an email to Hanser, so I hope to hear something. How much would it cost for a tech to repair this, if they could?

There's some grey area when it comes to the necks of the ReBop. PJ is under the impression that all of then can have their rods pulled out through the truss channel. This was not the case with mine. The truss channel was a traditional channel that flares at the tips but is narrow in the middle. So, the first step is to see what situation you're in.

Take off your strings & string nut. To remove the string nut, put a piece of wood against the fingerboard side of the nut and tap it with a mallet or hammer. The glue should loosen & the nut will come off. Loosen your truss rod until all tension is off. Use a pair of vise grips & see if you can pull the truss rod out. If you can, you can just get a new dual action truss rod with 4mm hex key nut from AllParts.com. Be sure to measure the length of your truss rod & order the appropriate size replacement. You may need to wrap the truss rod in felt to make it fit snugly. You can get adhesive backed felt at most craft stores & it's pretty easy to do.

If you can't get the truss rod out, you have 2 options.

Option 1: Order a new neck from Hanser (you have the option of Rosewood with pearloid inlays, or maple with black inlays). This neck will NOT match your body colour.

Option 2: Have a luthier lift the fingerboard & install a new AllParts dual action truss rod (the same one suggested above). Be sure to measure your old rod before ordering a new one. Should run you about $15 for the new rod from allparts.com. This is the route I went, as a close friend of mine is a luthier and I REALLY wanted to keep my neck matching the body. For me, this option was cheaper but it all comes down to what the Luthier is going to charge you. Get price quotes on the replacement neck from Hanser & compare what the Luthier estimates.

Thank you friends, your insight is important to me now as this GAS attack is so bad...I am sure to keep my NS-2 for now because it just feels so good to me. I just liked the idea of adding Kramer era NS-5 to my arsenal.

Just to reassure you that this is the right choice; I've been a Spector fan for about 8 months now, I watch CL, TB and eBay very closely via RSS feeds for bass gear.

I think I've seen 2 or 3 Kramer era NS2s for sale in that time.....I've seen more early 50s Fender Ps for sale in the same amount of time.

I'd hold onto that one myself as well.

Not sure how long its been there or if others have seen it but there's an interesting NS-4H2 buckeye burl for sale at Bass Northwest. Can't say I've ever seen a burl that looked like that, almost a Spalted Koa type look (if there is such a beast).

Mighty mite stopped making the MM114 a LONG time ago. When I contacted them about purchasing one about a year ago, they informed me that it had been discontinued.
