Been playing the XL quite a bit (shocking!) over the last week, and I really like what Spector has done with the neckthru and bolt-on US basses. The XL, to my ear, has a great modern sound, with a slight scoop to the mids and a great response to technique and EQ at the amp. The bolt-on H2, on the other hand, has a much thicker, darker, more middy sound that can really thump if so desired... I need to toss some fresh strings on the H2 to see how bright it can get but I really like the way it sounds with the old strings :)

Kudos to Spector for taking this approach with their lines. My first Spector (Legend Custom) was, quite honestly, awful in my hands; it was so bad that I swore the company off for years before stumbling onto an NS-2J at a local shop. I haven't been a Spector player for too terribly long, but I don't see myself being without one in the future. Fantastic instruments.
I tell you what though...when I bought my Legend4 it played like a dream compared to the Squire Fender Jazz bass I replaced it with! :bassist:

Congrats! Beautiful looking ReBop! How do you like playing it? Comparative to your blue Euro?Your white NS-2 is looking a bit naked W/O crowns...;D

I feel a bit bad saying that because enough people love them that it was likely just my own personal preference, but man... I've never disliked an instrument so much in my life, and I really have no idea why I went ahead and bought it. Maybe I got a lemon, but it was probably "user error" :D

Lima - Great family :) Love the vibe of the 4-string Spectors.

Well, I PM'ed Murphys Law yesterday.. NO response yet... Just to let him know as a heads up that we have people wanting to join the club now for a few weeks.
I offered to be the keeper of the list if he had become too busy, at his call.

We'll see what he says....

LimaGuy will get the first next number :D

Whoopsa,
sorry guys. Was out of order for a little while.
Lets get back to business!
Sorry for the delay!
LimaGuy, you're #225.

Trace if you want to, you can take over. This isn't a presidency after all. :smug:

LimaGuy, you're #225.

Trace if you want to, you can take over. This isn't a presidency after all. :smug:

Toastieeee...lol

No worries... just thought we'd rattle yer cage a bit :D and see whatchya been up to.

Your call on the list, you can do it or I can do it... or here's an idea... we can do it. We'll just sync the list as it grows :)
Play on, :bassist:

I am still the process of tweaking the ReBop to my taste. (action, strings etc...)
But first impression.
It definatly has a different sound and feel then the Euro's and the NS-2A.

Which to be honest is what I was looking for. I wanted something different this time.

The neck is fairly beefy which I like and it gets pretty wide at the bottom.
The body is much lighter and I can feel the "talked about" neck dive. But I am sitting 95% of the time.

I can hear how bright the treble knob is, and it seems to sound best at 0 to 10%. The overall condition is 9.5/10 I havent even found a scratch yet.

Overall I am very satisfied with it, but I can see why some may not like it for the price range a "new" one would be.

Because Abe hasn't been a SPECTOR Artist for long and his attraction to SPECTOR was due to the Coda Bass... this actually sounds more like a Coda instrument review... but he has some great comments about his past and current experiences with SPECTOR Basses...

My SPECTOR Story - Abe Millett

Very interesting....from someone from my background being a NS-2 style fan... I always thought why did Spector make a Coda Bass? Now after seeing Abe's explaination and review....it all makes sense.:D

Niiiice:cool:

If you're gonna keep adopting basses, how bout adopting a couple bassists??
I'll volunteer :D:D:D:D:D

Wish you were closer... would be nice to get a Spector Jam going....I will probably be getting another hopefully soon.
I have been selling all my non-Spector basses, so I can be all Spector :bassist: I got a Warwick Corvette up for sale, when that sells...I waited 28 years now I am out of control... :help:

A SPECTOR JAM would be cool!

I'm saving up to buy Patrick's Euro 4 LX :D
but he will probably have it sold before I can hide enough money to get it. :(

Trace,
Thanks for helping me get the number.
Will you be handling it from now on?

delucajohn2000 has been on here alot, he may want a number.

He purchased a Euro 5 from the same seller I got my Euro 4 from.

Update;
I lowered the action a bit and I am liking it more and more.
It is actually good for a novice Slap learner like me because the strings are pretty far off the body. Gives lots of room for my still sloppy right hand. :bassist:

And I am liking the tone for walking bass lines.

What is the model #'s of the upgraded EMG PU's if I wanted to eventually change from the Hi-Z's?
