Update;
I lowered the action a bit and I am liking it more and more.
It is actually good for a novice Slap learner like me because the strings are pretty far off the body. Gives lots of room for my still sloppy right hand. :bassist:

And I am liking the tone for walking bass lines.

What is the model #'s of the upgraded EMG PU's if I wanted to eventually change from the Hi-Z's?

Very cool LimaGuy!!!

I think you would be looking for EMG 35DC pickups or 35CS pickups. I'm currently hunting one more 35DC for my NS2000/4

Since you have a 4 string, the models you'll be looking after would be either the EMG 35 DCs or EMG 35 TWs.

I put a DC in the neck position and a TW in the Bridge position, and couldn't be happier! (..and imagine that i loved the tone with the HZs, I just ADORED it with the active ones ;) )

Anyways.
I'm looking into Spector for my next bass.
Legend Classic 5 or what?
I'm not loaded...as it is.
:p

Oh -
Also, because it never fails, I don't have access to test whatever bass I want.
My nearest GC is ~80 miles away and my license is revoked for 2 more weeks.
Just looking for input on jumping into Spectors...

I'm just not sure it's really Graham selling this bass and not just someone trying to squeeze a little more out of it . Zero feedback , no recent or decent pics of Graham with the bass , pics of the bass took on the bed sheet , just not professional . I would think he would get a pro photographer to take some good shots of him holding the bass and make everything look good if you are going to say "I'm Graham maby and I'm selling this bass " ...... Bla bla ...

Because Abe hasn't been a SPECTOR Artist for long and his attraction to SPECTOR was due to the Coda Bass... this actually sounds more like a Coda instrument review... but he has some great comments about his past and current experiences with SPECTOR Basses...

My SPECTOR Story - Abe Millett

Wish you were closer... would be nice to get a Spector Jam going....I will probably be getting another hopefully soon.
I have been selling all my non-Spector basses, so I can be all Spector :bassist: I got a Warwick Corvette up for sale, when that sells...I waited 28 years now I am out of control... :help:
The bite(Growl) of the Spector is infectious isn't it?!

A SPECTOR JAM would be cool!

I'm saving up to buy Patrick's Euro 4 LX :D
but he will probably have it sold before I can hide enough money to get it. :(
Good luck!

I feel your pain of guitar stores being so far away...:scowl: the nearest Spector dealer is 2-3 hours away! :crying:

Legend CUSTOM in 35" scale..if you can find one... it's a set-neck not bolt on... if not, yeah, get the Classic.
Or save a few more hundred and get a nice Euro 5 LX

I was cruising "Bass Central" last week and he has some awesome sales going on! You can get a brand new Euro for a low $1300-1400.00! Would be worth the little extra $...Especially when eBay Spector's are selling about the same as new. Now GC you can buy a Euro a little lower. Usually under 1G. Happy hunting!

After pursuing this more the seller says that he's indeed the man himself...

Looks like I am adding a new member to my Spector family. :hyper: Doing a local transaction tomorrow. If everything goes ok, I should be posting pics by 3:PM Eastern. I will keep everyone in suspense till then... ;)

Lima, your purchasing of new Spector's is starting to rub off on me and now I made the mistake of looking at the Bass Central URL :) They have an Alex Webster signature bass in stock which is really giving me serious GAS pains, LOL.

The interesting thing about the Alex Webster model they have, in the pictures it looks like there are 2 battery compartments on the back of the bass which I assume would make it an 18v circuit. The Spector site lists the circuit type as 9V so I guess that is an option that can be added?

@Tracebassplayer i was able to contact spector and gave them my serial. it is a pro (although i did want a performer my parents got it for me a long time ago as a xmas present). still u said the output jack is an easy fix? what would that be? i was playing this weekend and even with the cable looped and taped to the bass it came out during a song.

Like a fool  I look at the BassCentral site everyday. :help: (then I go through my daily, why didnt I just save all my $ and buy a USA Spector? :hiding: )

Give them a call and ask about the Alex Webster model, they are pretty helpful.

See, I just don't have the willpower to do that. If I call them, I am going to just want the bass so bad that it eat away at me.

I have definitely decided to sell my Corvette $$ but want to have the neck adjusted again (4th time in 2 months) sine the last place I took it to really did a poor job and also put light strings on it when I told them to use medium-heavy ones. Once I sell that, I plan on picking up either a Euro 4 LX 35" scale or a Rebop. I am not too keen on the EMG HZ pickups though so i would have to factor in extra money to change them.

How crazy am I? I don't even play in a band and I just love these basses :D

That's not crazy....
I know a lot of bass players that play from beginner to a "professional" level that don't actually play in a band and have no inclination to do so.
Ok, the beginners for obvious reasons....;)
I don't play in a band and haven't since the 90's, mostly because I "just don't need the drama" :smug:. which sounds odd to some given the equipment I have.:eyebrow: But, if I wanna try some other bassline or riff, I don't get any "lip" from the guitarist and my drum machine never complains. :D
I just love the music that comes from the bass guitar and that's .
I have a ton of bass solos on my iPod and find I listen to those more often than regular songs, not to learn them, just listen.

I suppose that would make an interesting "My SPECTOR Story" of how I started playing bass in high school, being a Roadie for a band and buying the bass players Grabber and Sunn rig in the early 80's, going on to finding out about SPECTOR bass ,and what/who turned me on to the SPECTOR brand, owning several over the years, and NOT playing in a band, huh? ;)

Hey, we could start a "Bassist who don't play in a band" club.:D
