Spector Club - Part 10

Is the club still open....? I'd like to join..! I just found a ,I think, 2003 Legend Custom in perfect shape at a local music store. I don't think they knew what it was...got a great deal . Love it..!

I bought a Spector case for my Euro 4LX a few weeks ago from Music123 - it was on backorder for about a couple weeks before it shipped, so I'm sure it was factory fresh and newly made.

The problem is, this case is so fresh, it reeks of tolex and/or glue. An overwhelming plasticy, chemical scent that brings me to the brink of nausea if it's too close. I've had this thing for three weeks, and I thought the odor would dissipate over time, but it hasn't.

Has anybody else here experienced this with a Spector case? I'm seriously thinking of sending it back - it's nice and all, but my whole family is digusted by the toxic smell, and I'm wondering what kind of carcinogenic goodness I may be ingesting.

Try leaving it open, outside in the sun. The UV and fresh air can often make big improvements. It may take more than one exposure. When you bring it in, if you have a place to let it lay flat, put a plate of baking soda inside the case and close it up.

That is some amazing playing. I'm sure someone will chime in somewhere and say he sucks because he uses a pick though :D

LOL. It's all good. They are available without the blood graphic. I don't know if any have been made yet. You can contact Bass Central and see if they have any on order.

The blood spatter might night be for everyone (personally, I love it.) You have to admit though, those blood red crown inlays and the red Spector logo are really cool looking.

Patrick, is that your Ferrari in the picture of you and your wife in the customers section of Bass Central?

I spoke with this guy today about his Euro 4LX Fretless. Doesnt look like I am going to be doing a Fretless purchase anytime soon.
But this is "rare" so i figured I share it here incase anyone was in the market for one.
PM me and I will send you his number.
He said that he special ordered it about 4 years ago.

It is a white lined fretless with the inlays "hardly used"

He was not exactly set on the price so you can discuss with him when you call him. Attached is not the greatest photo but gives you an idea of it.

Very nice looking fretless! I dabble in fretless playing on a er...squier. It's definitely another world compared to fretted basses. I'd love to have fretless Spector someday.

No. It belongs to a good friend of mine. I borrowed it for that photo-shoot.

He used to build the edgeless swimming pools. He did that for 20 years in LA and made a ton of $$$.

He also got into restoring old cars and had a 67 Dodge Hemi that was 100% perfect. The Ferarri's original owner saw it at a car show and offered to trade even. So he said, sure, why not?

And he regrets every second of it... LOL. The Ferarri is sexy, fun to drive and is a head-turner... when it will start. When it's not needing a $10,000 tune-up. When you can actually get the roof to go down.

Basically it's the most unreliable, costly car you can own.
If I ever had the money to own a car like that I wouldn't... unless I could get a really great deal on an Aston Martin. I have a friend with one of those. He drives it every day. It's like a Honda for reliablity. And man... it's fun to drive. That's a real super-car to me. :-)
