Did you tune the E string of your Rex Pro down to C with the .105? I have the stock Spector strings on my Euro 5LX but I am not sure what gauge the E string is since the Spector site says the 5 string tapered sets are 45-130.

My daughter asked me to play along to a few Disturbed songs and I tuned down to D flat with my E string and it was still very much playable and not floppy at all. I only kept it like that for one song though as I don't want to mess up my neck or anything since it's not setup for that. On a side note for Disturbed, 3 songs on the first cd each had a different tuning which was super annoying :(

My plan is to get a 35" scale Euro 4LX but for now, I will just tune the EADG strings down for songs that are too tough to play on the 5 string. I try to play them with the BEADG tuning and can play a good amount of the C# or C standard ones but when they start doing a bunch of open string stuff, it's a bit rough fretting every note.

I think he mainly picked up an ESP because of the 8strings but Ive seen him with a regular 4 also.. That was with Down... damn i think it was a 2-3hour set... lol

I talked to Rex before he tried the Coda, so im not too sure.. but that Coda is a sweet bass... The RXT looks so much better in person... I wasnt too thrilled at first but in person it looks slick. Really sad that Rex stopped playing but health is more important.

My Rex5 is set up with a .105 as the low and the high is a .030 tuned C - F - A# - D# - G# I just use a 6 string set and toss the "B"

I love my euro4lx 35.. I got it set up for BEAD but down-tuned it to A D G C.

If you're playing a lot of open notes I would just recommend tuning it to open instead of fretting a C on a B string... just make it C. Most people who are against drop tuning dont get how inconvenient fretting a C is when jumping around the fretboard.

I shipped the NS-2A in an original Spector double shipping box with case, weighed 37#, cost just under $40.00! FedEx Ground, not FedEx air. If it's the size penalty it might be cheaper to send them separately.

UPS was 58 but I would rather use FE...:eyebrow:

I think for now I am more than happy with my Ian Hill and NS-2J...
If I buy anymore it would probably be from a collectors standpoint or just to say "I have one of those, too." :D

Me too Trace! :cool: I never dreamed that a bass guitar could play as FINE as the Ian Hill!! When I save up more $$$...I think what I'll do is take my Ian Hill to the nearest Spector dealer, which is around 3 hours south of me(everything is south of me except Canada, lol) and compare it to a USA Spector. To see if I really want to pay the extra $$$. I'm very fortunate that my wife is behind me on these bass purchases. I told her last week how appreciative I am of her support. She knows how much research that I put into each bass before I buy to make sure it's what I'm looking for. At this time I'm building up my arsenal for my band playing. I like having diversity of # of strings and distinct tones. Peace bro!

Lucky you... That she supports your interest. Mine... not so much.:( Her EX is a guitardist and I'm kinda paying for his "lack of attention" while he practiced 3-4 hours a night after work...

I just can't seem to get comfortable with 5+ strings... I do know that I love the thinner neck and that may be why I love my NS-2J and Ian Hill sig...:bassist:

I have to admit, I am not a big fan of that "telecaster" body shape but I am sure, like you said, it looks much better in person. Man, if Down played for 2-3 hours, I would be in heaven :) Too bad Rex is no longer with them though.

Yeah, fretting a C and C# is not too easy and with the larger scale of the bass, it just gets tough no matter how much I practice it.

Have you tried a Euro 5 Trace? Limaguy was saying the same thing as you but when I brought over my Euro 5, he really liked it. I expected him to pick one up already with the way he has been buying new Spector's :)

Did you need to adjust your neck at all Gravesbass? I just don't want to damage the neck or anything since tuning lower might be less tension.

Do you go to a place like juststrings.com and buy that .110 separate? Sorry for all the questions but this really interests me since I keep having to use different tunings to play along with different songs.

LOL, Yeah, Lima is buying every available SPECTOR known to man! :hiding: hehehe.

I have not tried the Euro 5 yet. But, you can bring yours over and we can jam a bit and see...:D

Well Trace...sorry to hear that you're paying for another mans neglect. :( bummer bro. The neck on my NS-95 is nice and thin...of course just wider. It's a beautiful playing 5r! Really glad I didn't sell "Big Red"!!! It plays soooo smooth! Beautiful tone! There's one on GC for $450.00! :eyebrow:

Being in a couple CCM bands C & C# are very common. So for me, playing those frets any where on the fretboard is like second nature.

I have family up in the UP. We went to mackinaw for a few days. Beautiful island, but I Couldn't get used to the smell of horse manure on the streets.
And the mackinaw bridge never ceases to amaze me. It's insanely long.
