heres my "entry level, the only thing i can afford, but at least its a spector bass" bass. one of these days ill be able to get one i really want. but until then...

Man, just go to YouTube and look up a Doug Whimbish video if you want to hear some amazing Spector slapping. Personally I don't like slapping at all. But each to their own!

Man am I STOKED!!! the camper is hooked to the Trail Blazer...bass equipment is loaded...tomorrow morning we roll to the first "Annual Farm memorial Music Festival." A 2 day music festival to remember Michigan Musicians that have passed on to play in the big sky! Our band plays both Friday & Saturday afternoon! My new Ian Hill is going to get dome mileage on her! Two days of jamming, listening, campfires, good friends, fish fries...doesn't get much better than this!!!!

Hey since they both play spectors , whos your favorite living colour bassist ? muzz or doug ??? wheew ... tough call for me ... muzz was one of the first really bad ass rock bassist i seen ..

oh yeah and remember in 1988 i was 13 , so i could have cared less about rush and a few others back then ... now is different ... so didnt wanna start the slam fest of previous great rock bassists .... and also only started this cause they are spector players ... i know muzz played jacksons at first , but then moved into spectors ...

That is a great song and I love Doug's tone but they don't show any close-ups of him which is disappointing. I want to get a bass view of that 5 string he is playing.

Yeah this is a tough one. Doug is really a one-man band with the virtuosity with which he plays... but the work that Muzz did on the first two albums in my opinion was on par with Vernon's guitar work.

Listen to "Invalid Link Removed" from their first album, Vivid... man. Everything about this bass is just perfect to me. And the solo... I mean a REAL solo... like you would play a lead guitar. Before Vernon comes in and does his thing.

Muzz is one of my all-time favorite bassists. This album dropped my senior year of high-school and that summer they played in Savannah... it was a small venue and you could talk to them after the show. It was a great experience.

No disrespect for Doug, who I greatly admire, but in Living Colour... I'd have to say Muzz. Solo... It's Doug. I mean you can't argue with a man that can do this:

DUDE! The same with with the Flea/RHCP Arsenio Hall clip.

IT'S A MEDIA BIAS AGAINST BASSISTS... They love to show the singer and the lead guitarist... even the drummer from time-to-time... but they DISS the bassist.

GETS ME REALLY ANGRY! They do it ALL the time... unless it's Tal Wilkenfeld... But I can't blame them for that. :ninja:

Actually, I think the only Spector Muzz had was the Kramer era 5 he played occasionally. Muzz played a variety of basses, but was basically an ESP guy.

Regardless of bass, I never liked his (recorded) tone. Kind of non-punchy and indistinct compared to Doug's which, although can get a little thin at times live, I like much better overall. I think Doug has proven to be a much better fit overall to what Living Colour is trying to be, with all the innovative playing techniques and effects.

Both are just stellar players.
