I've had thoughts of retrofitting a Spector 4 string with Hipshots, but I'm not sure the neck would be too happy. It would be fun to try though. :D

I tried putting one on the E and A strings of an old NS2a I had a while ago. The E string worked, but the A string didn't. The lever would hit the E string tuner when you flipped it forward.

She's an oldie, but a goodie. I traded some used equipment for the NS-2B ( I think...) back in '96. She has been through several incarnations. Started out fretted, with factory pickups(no preamp) and a 3-way switch. Changed the pickups out for Dimarzio P + J, didn't like the output, so went with EMG's, kept them ever since. Pulled frets in '98-'99, and epoxied the board. Got the setup perfect...and the truss rod broke. Now, there is a Stew-Mac Hot Rod, graphite rods in the neck, and an ebony board. I got tired of the thinline jack, so, flipped a stratocaster jack around, bent and mounted to the body, so I could use a switchcraft jack. I have an additional 9-volt wired in, and the cavities are shielded. This is a workhorse, not a cherished vintage piece, and I will never get rid of this baby.

Sounds good to me! This baby has been through a lot, has some autographs on the back,(which I am ashamed to show, because I sucked at clearcoating...don't want to screw it up more) I will absolutely never get rid of this! In time, I might fix all the mistakes, make it really pretty, especially since I am in luthier's school, here in Phoenix. I have loved Spectors since I started playing, back in '93. This one is the only one I have ever been to afford, for now. There is just something about them.

In preperation for the hurricane. I evacuated the Spectors off the wall in cases and gig bags into an inner closet.
I left the NS-2A sunburst out so I can play it with my battery powered Tascam CD-BT2 when we loose power.

I will try to communicate if possible through my android app but if not, I assume you will not hear from me for about a week due to no power. I am in a Borough of NYC and so far the eye looks like it will track very close to me.

Keep yourself, your family and your Spectors safe.

I live in AZ too.. The guy who built my custom acoustic guitar went to that school and it came out awesome! Do gig out anywhere?

Hey! I don't really have time to gig anywhere, I am trying to find work, and just surviving. I haven't had time to try to find people to gig with, I just practice with YouTube and the radio.I am, however, looking forward to completing the school. I have a thread, which I try to keep updated, in the Luthier's Corner.

The "sticky" side is a gel-type material though it's not really sticky. There's no adhesive just the gel cling. The other side feels like velour.

I'm wondering if the Euro LXs have a polyurethane finish or nitrocellulose or something else.

Yeah, I'm moving all my gear downstairs in a little bit. I'm not too far from NY, and I'm not too worried about losing power, but you never know. Hope everyone else in the hurricane's path gets through it okay.
