I have a new to me performer dlx and Its lacking a little bit in the low end department. my low E doesn't respond like the other strings. Its got the passive EMG pups. I have it dialed i as much as I can. what do you guys recommend for pups? should I go active? anyone upgrade these basses before? thanks in advance

What kind of strings do you have on the bass?
Sometimes a different brand may help with this.

Have you adjusted the Pickup Up on the E side and Down on the G side?

It appears the eye of the hurrincane has passed over my area and the worst may be over. Still have power, My street looked like a river. Had some water come into the basement but the pump worked. The family is sleeping nicely and I expect the Spectors to return to their places on my wall by mid afternoon.

I have modded mine more than I probably should. When I put active EMG's in, it made the sound. Plus, wiring a second 9 volt in, really kicked it up a notch. Try something with emg's, if you like the sound, go for it! I say try first, because (at least, with me) I can't chunk down the change on a whim. It would stink to buy them, if you don't like the sound. Good luck!

I guess my area lucked out with this Hurricane so I can feel lucky about that. I hope they get your power back soon Limaguy.

It looks like Patrick uploaded a new My Spector Story for Carlton Armstrong. He seems like a really great guy and I love his impressions of "the Spector sound." :)

I never lost power thank God....I lucked out also. A few blocks from my house they had to rescue people on boats.

So John and I both lucked out with the hurricane. Could it be that along with having "healing powers". Spectors also have "protecting powers"? :eyebrow: :bassist: :D

Fate saved you because Icebox and I were (jokingly) arguing over custody of your SPECTOR family..
We settled on "Joint Custody, BTW. LOL :D:D:D:D

Glad to hear you are doing well and are safe...

That is good that you didn't lose power. I guess I am so used to seeing people saying they lost power, I saw your post and didn't read it close enough. I think we did get lucky though that the wind wasn't as strong or this would have been much worse.

Now back to spector business.

2 nice looking decent priced Used Euro's at Guitar Center.

Lima guy glad you are ok.....

I have adjusted the pups height and that did help. And I'm not sure what brand strings are on it, but they are really fresh. and are Roundwounds. I'm new to bass gear so I'm not loyal to any strings makers any suggestions on what to look for? It would be great if strings could alleviate the issue since thats a lot cheaper then buying EMGs and paying a tech to install them :)

LimaGuy...I was able to talk down $25.00 off the price of the Performer DLX from GC...and I talked to 3 different GC stores Thursday afternoon and no one wanted to drop their price at all, except the one. These were SPECTORS that'd been on their site for a few months too. :Eyebrow: They wouldn't pay the shipping either but shipped for $12.85 wasn't bad at all. I even told them that I've bought several basses and amps from them in the last 1-2 years.

This bass was on craigslist in philly last month.
It was modified, the 4th knob is now a top input jack.

Not sure what they did to the original input jack hole.

Seems the less expensive the gear they probably dont have as much room to drop the price down.

Just curious, which store did you end up getting it from and which ones did you call?

$12.85 shipping isnt bad at all.
